What's new

My Guess... 3017

I think it's time to invest in a low cost back up brush. 1 month is kind of a long time. I wouldn't be able to last using brushless cream or Barbasol. Lol. Ymmv

My partial puck of MWF gave up it's last lather yesterday. What a fine soap it is. Gave me some excellent shaves. It took more work to make a good lather than I'm used to with Italian soft soaps, but well worth it.
Now It's time to finish the second half of my RR Christmas In Tuscany brick that I started on Christmas Day 2013.
I am really looking forward to using this again.

I started measuring out scoops of Maca Root with my finger and I find you don't need that much cream at all. Almond size got enough for four passes. More efficient than a lot of other creams.

Another sample down!

My wife was complaining that she's in the middle of reading four different books and so none are getting finished. I told her to "3017" them :thumbup1:

It's been two months now for this tub of Catie's Bubbles but I've finally broken through to the bottom. I predicted it would last me until the start of December, but it looks like it will last a majority of the month as well.

Tried Proraso brushless this morning and while it was better than Cremo, still not a great experience.

So out came the Barbasol for my last 2 passes. I have to say, I'm not a fan of the ingredient list length, but the shave was darn nice.

It's only a travel sized can, but I'm going to 3017 it and extrapolate to a full sized one to see how it compares in the cost per shave thread.

We'll see how my face feels at the end of it.

Here was my post from a year ago after 3 months with half a tube of Maca Root. Good memories.

I *finally* polished off my Body Shop Maca Root yesterday.

OK shaving cream. Scent reminded my of clean laundry. Not enough protection or slickness. As my 6 yr old would say, Holy Moly Cow! That cream just wouldn't die. I only used 1.4g per shave and that left plenty for the drain after 4 passes.

I need to 3017 a good soap instead of using up my OK soaps. And guess what just arrived in the mail? Samples of DRH and Mikes. Woot! I've never tried either so will start tomorrow with Arlington.

8oz. is a lot of soap! What are your thoughts on it so far? I've got a tub of LPV I'll get to sometime in 2015.

I felt that way when I demoted the Wilkinson blue bowl to shower duty. Went to a few samples of Mikes and it was "Ahhhhhh"

I have two 8 oz tins of HTGAM and Synergy I bought just before all the controversy broke here a while ago. I will eventually use them, I hope they were worth buying but I won't replace them. I wonder how long they will last?

I've enjoyed it quite a bit, the scent is very nice and the lather is slick and protective. It only takes a little product to make a lot of lather, so even 20 seconds of swirling counts as loading it like I hate it.

I sold off 3 tins of HTGAM... and my first thought afterwards was that just took a lot of time off of my 3017 schedule.

Which one of Ian's soap are you looking at? My next two 3017 products are B&M Bay Rum and Ian's Cinnamon Girl

Lavender, Lime and Lanolin.

Tried a test lather over a month ago and liked it. Shaved with it tonight and loved it. Scent is great, lather very good a post shave feel not bad. Looking forward to this.

Turns out tomorrow will be the last day for my Arko stick that I had transferred into a bowl:laugh:

Everything was going along quite nicely and I probably had about 5 shaves left with the soap. Then, in showing poor judgement, I decided to pull out my soap killer for the shave this morning. I tried to load the brush with light pressure and merely loaded for about 20 seconds. But, when I looked into the soap dish again, only randomly scattered bits of soap remained:lol:

I'll be able to scrounge up one more shave from this soap tomorrow morning, but it won't be worth the effort beyond one shave.

I just realized that I don't have a post-bloom picture of this brush. It's not my everyday brush, but do like using it for face lathering and killing off soaps, and it also doubles as my travel brush.

It's the boar on the right. Since this picture was taken a few years ago it has bloomed nicely.

i added water to hydrate the soap, and added too much water..

.after a dry first shave, I changed blades and added more water for a slick shave.....there is such a thing as using too much product. After 4 passes I had enough soap for 4-6 more easily on my omega brush.
