Merkur 34C HD barrel came appart

Hi gents
Today the barrel came appart on my 4 month old 34C I assume this is factory pressed is this a common issue? Is there any way I could contact merkur/dovo customer support or is this fixable?

That happened to me as well. I just used it as a 3 piece. Same great shaver!

(You might be able to crimp it, though.)

I have taken mine apart and put it back together. There's a tension ring (it looks like it's still on there). If it's not broken, then you just need to squeeze it together in order to get it back in.

I’ve done the same.

Yes I can take of the little ring and use it as a 3 piece, but I' just tried to contact dovo solingen let's see if they respond?

I have taken mine apart and put it back together. There's a tension ring (it looks like it's still on there). If it's not broken, then you just need to squeeze it together in order to get it back in.

it should be loose when not inside the larger barrel, that's the tension that keeps it from coming apart normally.

It's designed to do that.

You can take the ring off by sliding it UP the shaft. Don't pry it off. Then save it in case you want it again.

I've long since taken the rings out of my Merkurs. I take it all apart, rinse and set aside to dry after each use.

The C ring sits loose in the knob recess and just retains the knob in the handle. It just needs slipping down to the recess and a little squeeze to reduce it's diameter as you insert the knob back into the handle. Use some machine oil to help it slide back in. It is not something DOVO needs to fix.

After some serious fidling around I finally got it back in

I have been lucky that it has not happened to me yet. I probably don’t use mine enough. Let us know if Merkur get back to you and what they suggest.

Got mail from dovo/merkur today explaining how to fix it with a tutorial video and it worked they also told me if I couldn't fix it I could send it in for repairs free of charge

A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to this thread. I went through the same thing this morning. I squeezed with needle nose pliers and with some Devine intervention, everything slid back into place!

Of course, it’s supposed to come apart, that’s how I clean it every week when I change blades.

Actually, that is a great mod for this model to remove the spring so that it comes apart easy for cleaning. I mean, you want to minimize the gunk that collects so that 50 years from now the person that buys your "rare" vintage German made 34c on Etsy gets a nice clean specimen
