Ok… so where did we leave off? Oh yeah…

So I tried to jump on the Nike Cortez train with @Marco but I was not faster than a speeding locomotive and got shut out on the 5/8 launch date.

So that train has sailed. 😉

But the Samba is still all the rage.

And this colorway has caught my eye. Although sold out at adidas, I was able to order a pair from Footlocker.

A rich, deep brown leather with a “preloved” yellow trim.

Magnificent shoes indeed, Robert!

Anyway, if the Forrest Gump do not show up within a couple of weeks I'm going to order the Cortez By You I created that are FG-like. :cuppa:

The Samba OG arrived today.

I ordered them in Size 11.

Which is the size as the Samba ADV I had purchased some time ago.

Although the sizes printed on the box would indicate that these sneakers are both the same size, nothing could be further from the truth.

The Size 11 in the brown Samba OG was way too long by at least an inch or more in the toe box while the ADV provided a more snug fit overall than that of the OG, with just enough room to spare in the toe area.

So I set up an exhange for a 10.5. In my mind, I’m thinking I could fit into a Size 10 but that might be pushing it.

Anyway, we will continue down this road until we get it right. :yesnod:

Although I was aware of the slight differences between the OG vs. the ADV, I was quite surprised the wide disparity in sizing between both sneakers.

Yeah, that stinks. But on the bright side, both colors are very sharp my friend!

A post from April of 2022 from the Great Purge thread about the Rod Laver sneaker from Adidas.

And now…. back to our regularly scheduled Great Purge of 2022.

Tonight, this pair of Rod Laver tennis sneakers just sold on Poshmark.

I must say that I was really torn about selling these sneeks. I waited a long time to find them. I think adidas produces them for a bit and then discontinues them for a bit.

I had ordered these in Size 10.5. This was the size that I ordered for many years in previous adidas models that I’ve owned. But as I previously mentioned (and to @Phoenixkh ’s point) I have seen my adidas size go up to 11 and 11.5 in recent times, depending on the sneaker.

I had to face the facts that the 10.5 Rod Laver was just not going to cut it since my toes did not have much wiggle room in the toe area.

Unfortunately, this sneaker in either size 11.0 or 11.5 has become unobtainable as adidas no longer sells this model on its website and they are difficult to find new on the secondary market without paying an exorbitant amount of coin.

Because of the scarcity of the sneaker in these particular sizes (including the 10.5), I was able to recoup my initial outlay and therefore was not out-of-pocket on the resale.

Not bad for a sneaker I purchased in January of 2021, wore a few times and then they ended up sitting in the closet, never to be worn again.

So…. as I did before. I will await the time when (if) the Rod Laver sneeks go back into mass production and obtain the correct size.

And that time is now….🤪

The above post is from April of 2022. Over 2 years later and now, after a happenstance search of the Rod Laver sneaker by Adidas (and to my surprise), I found a pair for sale on Nordstrom’s website. Knowing that the Rod Laver sightings are few and far between, I was left with no choice but to order a pair. 🙄😀

Now they aren’t in the blue colorway (which I prefer), nor are they in all-leather (which I also prefer).

They are in the Fairway Green which is the original color of the Rod Laver back in its heyday of the 70’s, and I do like it as well.

The upper comes in the original textile mesh upper. (This is the make-up preferred by Rod Laver purist, @beginish). 😀

Now as I recall, the all-leather Rod Lavers were a bit weighty so maybe this will be a lighter sneaker.

As I wrote in 2022, the 10.5 Rod Laver was just a bit too snug and at that time, as well as today, there are no Size 11 in the all leather blue colorway that are available at a reasonable price. (They can be found on eBay or StockX for more than $250).

I ordered this pair in Size 11. Let’s see if the somewhat looser construction of the mesh upper plays a factor in getting the right fit or if they run the same as the all-leather version. (Think lined vs. unlined shoe).

They should be here in about a week.

When I get ‘em… you’ll see “em. :thumbup1:
