Same here... I would say that in general I prefer something closer to icing a cupcake than topping a pie.

I think the fact that you refer to your lather as "foam" is an indication that you're overwhipping it and maybe need to work on the product/water ratio. I aim for more of a yogurt than a whipped cream consistency.

I occasionally shave in the shower, and realized my lather was slicker and more effective in the shower because of the additional moisture, so now I add more water than I used to when shaving at the sink. "Yogurt" is a good description of the consistency I aim for. I don't think about "cushion" as much as maximum moisture on my face at all times, and I feel the wetter the lather the more moisture retained on the face.
