3 passes (WTG, XTG, ATG) and a touch up works well for me every time. Any more and I risk razor burn.

Using a 38C with feather blades. I have thick strong hair so assumed feather blades would be the best. I have Soem generic Israeli blades, but these dont cut as close
What blades do yo use?

I do 4 passes in all for a BBS
2 WTG
1 XTG
and 1 ATG, plus some touch ups (like under my chin)
I have tough beard so a while ago I started doing 2 WTG (I thought it was not necessary), but it proved to work better that way.
Derby blades for me, also enjoy Astra and Feathers. Have a 38C that I have used from time to time. Sounds like your beard must be more challenging maybe. Do you shave after a shower etc, etc?
I'm still new to DE shaving. Have shaved with it about 6 times so far.
If i leave my stubble for 2 days, i find i need at least 3 passes.
If i leave my stubble for 4 days like i did today even after 5 passes there were patches left (used a new blade too)...ended up cleaning up with my fusion
How many passes do mos people find they need?
4.5
one in each compass direction and clean up
