Gillette New "dictator"

Hello,

always missed a Single ring type New Gillette, but the only one I know of is the British Nr. 10 London set and that one is rather scarce.

Managed to find a Rotbart with serious teeth loss and had a British New with (re)plating issues, so made a custom New. It's feels and shaves like an Rfb, after polishing and a replate it will receive another handle with the British patents.

Thank you. Some good news, some bad.
The plater told me it's not necessary to strip the silver from the comb, the cleaning bath will strip soft metals, so the stamps won't fade further (hopefully).
Managed to polish out the cap, but it's pitted (again).

Hello,

the dictator came back from the plater, once again the end result turned out amazing.
Looks like I was lazy, or the silver went on thicker than usual, anyhow, cap was satin, so some further buffing was needed.
It looks like this time the comb also accepted silver well, don’t know what went wrong last time.



And a group shot of my heavily restored News. Flat bottom in nickel, De luxe in nickel and gold, Rfb and dictator in silver.

Hello,

the dictator is borderline similar to an RFB after the replate. Last test will be a cap swap with my No 77.
