Does anyone else soak their razor before shaving?

I fill my sink with hot water and let the Merkur Futur and my badger brush warm up. the Merkur is in the sink just out of habit and I prefer a hot razor. I don't think it improves performance though.

FBOW, & I don't know which it is, I soak my razor in a glass for a bit while I'm making my lather.

Depending on my whim, I'll either soak it in the sink, or with the brush, or simply run it under a hot tap.
