I was just wondering if alum block has an expiration date? If I'm using a 20yo alum block

Can you feel a difference when you use it after your cool water rinse? If so, then it's working. Rememeber, alum is a mineral, so as long as you can see it or hold it, it does what it do!

It was never used and I do feel the sting... so its ok.
I would just make sure it is potassium alum and it should be good to go.
Potassium alum is a naturally occurring mineral, so your block is probably closer to 20 million years old. Pretty cool, huh?
My block says it will expire at the end of the Holocene Epoch.
How long do these things last? Has anyone actually had to throw one away because it got too small? They remind me of Willy Wonka's Everlasting Gobstoppers!!
