Tuesday 30th April, shave #121

Preshave: Hot washcloth
Soap: Nivea Men Shaving Creme
Brush: Yaqi 24mm synthetic cashmere
Razor: Rockwell 6S R6, Ti Handle, Astra SP #9
Bowl: Turkish copper
Post-shave: Nivea Balm

Finished the month with the Rockwell, for a comfortable near-BBS. The Nivea cream is pretty good — if I needed to do a brushless shave, I'd back this over canned foam.

Shave#120 of 366 remaining 246(100%)

Razor:
Muhle Rocca R94
Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock Sharpedge (4)
Brush: Yaqi Moka-Express 2 band
Soap: Tabac
A/S: Davidoff Cool Water
Post Shave: Nivea Hyaluron Gel

Tonight was my first Tabac 3017 shave of the week, lathered once again with the Moka-Express. Though the lathers are usually a breeze this time I found my first lather a little dry which I corrected with the addition of a few drops of water. The shave was another comfortable BBS.

Notes:

Summary. Ahh…coming home after using fabulous vintage razors in April what better way to kick off Modern May than with my favourite overall razor. Simply bliss.

Enjoy your shave!

Shave#121 of 366 remaining 245(100%)

Razor:
Muhle Rocca R94
Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock Sharpedge (5)
Brush: Yaqi Moka-Express 2 band
Soap: Tabac
A/S: Davidoff Cool Water
Post Shave: Nivea Hyaluron Gel

Tonight another 3017 shave and I have definitely noticed the soap is wearing down. The Sharpedge was loaded into the Rocca for it's fifth shave and though it was as smooth as usual it wasn't quite as close as it has been. There was a little rough patch left on the left hand side of my neck. It could just be operator error but I will have to see how tomorrows shave turns out.

Wednesday 1st May, shave #122
⅓ of the year complete
████████████████████████

Preshave: Hot washcloth
Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat (Tallow)
Brush: Yaqi 24mm synthetic cashmere
Razor: Rockwell 6S R5, Ti Handle, Wilkinson #1
Bowl: Turkish copper
Post-shave: Nivea Balm

I gave the Rockwell and Game Changer a deep clean. Simmering the steel baseplates with a bit of washing soda gets rid of soap stains in the lather slots. I cleaned the handles with dish soap and a toothbrush.

Loaded up a German Wilkinson blade for a change, to start the month. I've not used one of these for a while, and was pleasantly surprised. It's a good combination of sharp and smooth. With the R5 plate, I got an easy near-BBS.
