Shave#108 of 366 remaining 258(100%)

Razor:
Rockwell 6C R5
Blade: GSB (5)
Brush: Yaqi Moka-Express 2 band
Soap: Tabac
A/S: Davidoff Cool Water
Post Shave: Nivea Hyaluron Gel

Tonight another Tabac 3017 shave, but this time I changed the Rockwell to plate R5 instead of plate R6 to see if I could get more comfort with the same performance. Honestly it was no more comfortable than last night and the finish wasn't a BBS. Really I think I will switch back to the R6 plate tomorrow because of the better shave.

Thursday 18th April, shave #109

Preshave: Hot washcloth
Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat (Tallow)
Brush: Yaqi 24mm synthetic cashmere
Razor: GC.84 SB, Al Handle, Astra SP #4
Bowl: Turkish copper
Post-shave: Proraso Sensitive Balm

Back to MWF, and got one of those perfect bowl lathers. Took my time, and got an excellent near-BBS.

I changed the Rockwell to plate R5 instead of plate R6 to see if I could get more comfort with the same performance. Honestly it was no more comfortable than last night and the finish wasn't a BBS. Really I think I will switch back to the R6 plate tomorrow because of the better shave.

I'm going to revisit the R6 plate, then.

I always found R5 to be the sweet spot. R6 felt harsher, but I could never conjure a better shave out of it. This was a couple of years ago.

The Rockwell R6 plate is 0.79mm, and my favourite, the Game Changer, is 0.84, so it might be like the .76 Game Changer plate that's frustratingly hard to get here.

During my taming of the .84 (or the shimming of the .68?) I remember suggesting a GC.76-P on B&B, and voila, Razorock eventually did it.

Notes:

Summary. Effective Friday shave using one of my oldest razors. Very capable of a close shave. All other actors were playing in unison.

A thoroughly excellent shave!

1st pass with setting 3 and 2nd pass with setting 1. Zero feedback from a healthy glug of the aftershave which I managed to 3017.

Razor:
Rockwell 6C R6
Blade: GSB (6)
Brush: Yaqi Moka-Express 2 band
Soap: Tabac
A/S: Davidoff Cool Water
Post Shave: Nivea Hyaluron Gel

Tonight I switched back to the R6 plate on the Rockwell and got a much better shave from it. I probably should have trusted my own judgement in the first place and stuck with it. I managed to get another BBS though I am still less than a week in with it

Friday 19th April, shave #110

Preshave: Hot washcloth
Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat (Tallow)
Brush: Yaqi 24mm synthetic cashmere
Razor: Rockwell 6S R6, Al Handle, Astra SP #5
Bowl: Turkish copper
Post-shave: Nivea Balm

I tried the neglected Rockwell R6 plate for a change. It's a good combination of comfortable and effective. I got a BBS, near enough, and no irritation.

I'll stick with this over the weekend, and see how it works out with the other soaps.

Another excellent outing with the Futur! Both passes were performed on setting 2. Even with the extra alcohol of the cologne there was precious little feedback.
