Wolfman: On the waiting list. Questions.

I shaved a fortune
I have several SS polished razors heads I use the Timeless Ti Crown handles... I can't tell the difference... I'm pretty good at seeing/matching shades... but I'm color blind... so there is that. <eg>

I even have one matte finish razor head with a matte Ti Crown handle.. I polished the titanium a few times to match the razor head. Every time you polish the matte finish, at least, on the Ti Crown handle.... it lightens up a bit.

Kim,
How does a titanium handle feel with a stainless steel head in the Wolfman? So a solid titanium handle will still be lighter than a hollow stainless steel handle? So you cannot tell the difference in color/hue between the two different metals? I just would want the two to match. Based on what i read is overtime Titanium gets a smoky grey hue..

The hollow Wolfman handles in any material except titanium, obviously... weight about the same at a Timeless Ti Crown handle.. Mine weigh in around 40 grams... I'm sure the copper would be a bit heavier... Mine are bronze.

It really is a personal thing but I prefer the balance tilted toward the razor head, as you know. Wolfman handles and stands are quite expensive. I'd try it out for yourself before you commit the money.

So if a Wrh1 80mm hollow Stainless steel handle weighs 55 grams, how much would a solid titanium handle weigh at the same specs? So does titanium tarnish over time, vs stainless steel? I have seen pics of people getting Wolfman handles in basic polish titanium and Wolfman razor head SS combo's and i cannot tell the difference between the two metals, they look like they match. Might sound like i am nit picking, because i am:)

I don't know much of photography but here are my hollow stainless steel WRH7 with WR2-DC 1.05 titanium photos. Photos were taken using my iPhone. The WRH7 was originally ordered with a stainless steel WR2 1.25. 1.05 titanium head were ordered subsequently on a different "round".

Okay fellas i need some who has TI Wolfman handle and SS Wolfman head to please chime in. I have already posted similar questions but i would like to get as much information as possible. Tara said there is a bit of a difference between the two metals by photos i cannot tell a difference. I was curious if a 83mm TI handle and a wr2 or wr1 stainless steel head (dont know which one yet) would feel balanced or unbalanced .Anyways a 80mm wrh1 SS hollow handle weighs roughly 55 grams, a titanium with the same specs weighs 46 grams, and a wr2 head weight is 33 grams, and a wr1 is 28 grams . I was curious if a titanium handle with a SS razor head would throw the razor off balance, and make it 'head heavy' I was thinking it wouldn't because the TI handle weighs more than the stainless head?? But it still might because stainless has more mass??
If the razor permits i like to hold the razor towards the tip of the handle.

Another thing is if the two metals will match if both were basic polished?? I don't want a razor handle that doesn't match the hue of the ss head I was reading online that titanium has a different color/hue than stainless steel TI has a more smokey gray. Again Although i have seen pics of Wolfman ti handle and ss head i cannot tell difference between the two metals in photos. I emailed Tara and she said there's a slight difference between the two and can probably be seen.

When I have a second, I will take some pictures of my Ti handles with SS heads.

Beautiful razors, both of them..... I only have a Bronze WR2 basic polish and three handles... Two hollow 90mm 3/7s and a Darwin.... all of them lovely as well.

Had I bought a SS steel WR2 or other head, I would have opted for a titanium handle as well... as I like the balance better, though a hollow SS handle would also be an option. I haven't checked the weight specs so I don't know which way I would have gone. I use titanium handles for all my SS razor heads... The colors match up well and for me, the balance is improved.

I couldn’t agree more!

Here is my polished Ti WRH1 with H2 knurling , 90 mm, with basic polished SS WR2 1.05SB

Thanks for the photos! Dang that's awesome looking! I love that wrh1 with the wrh2 knurling. So how grippy is that specific knurling? It looks like it has plenty of 'tooth' for grip with wet hands.

That does match to my eyes. Another guy brought this to my attention on another forum about galvanic corrosion: Me personally i would be concerned about galvanic corrosion because titanium and SS are not compatible. Kinda like Aluminum and SS aren't compatible and the aluminum will cause the SS to rust in the long run.

I really like the wrh1 and wrh2 handles, i just wish he would make them a little slimmer, 14.3mm/9/16 is pretty thick. But they're designed that way for a reason, and they seem to work well.

The grip is fantastic. I would not be concerned about galvanic corrosion at all. I looked into this before pairing Ti handles with the SS heads, and I actually remember reading some article saying that the chances of this happening with Ti and SS are negligible. All of my razors and handles look as they did when received from Wolfman.

Same here. I been using Ti handles with Stainless heads for years and never an issue. I just occasionally add a slight dab of Vaseline (petroleum jelly) to the threads for smooth action and peace of mind.

I agree it's probably overkill as it's unlikely for galling to occur... .but I use a dab of Park Tools anti-seize compound on my handles... just a dap, then screw in the razor head assembly..... Park Tools provides tools to the bicycling industry... They use a lot of mixed metal add-on parts to various frame materials.... It is a known problem, but bicycles see a lot more use in all kinds of weather conditions... and the parts aren't removed unless they fail or the owner does an upgrade, etc... Our razors usually sit in an AC environment and we break them down regularly to install blades, etc.

Happy New Year and blessings to all!

Guys still not filled out the form yet. I have a WR2 0.95 on the way for loan from @Latherati (i appreciate it buddy) I think it's worth it to offer up money for the razors worth + 100.00 and pay shipping both ways as an insurance that a fellow can be trusted if they get a razor on loan, its plain out fair IMO!

A few questions about Wolfman. So i was just thinking about a dual gapped razor. Only my opinion: In a way i really don't like it, not having the same gap on both sides the way a razor is supposed to be one would easily get confused on what side they're using, especially if i wanted both sides to be SB.. A de was originally designed to have both equal gaps on each side. But in another way i see it being more effective, handy and more comfortable along with being efficient(two razors in one) as far a beard reduction and finishing on a lower gap atg.
So how does one know which side is which? Does he mark the gaps for each side under the base plate? Looks like it could be confusing on when to know what side is which??How much more money does it cost to get a dual gapped razor? Also how much more does it cost to get custom handle lengths? This guy James must be darn good to be able to make a dual gapped razor and not have any tolerance issues as far as the way the blade is clamped down on both sides and having different gap measurements!
I got the Wolf bronze 0.95 in the mail yesterday on loan. Thank you @Latherati. Just finished up my shave. I used a mild (Derby USTA) blade because i was intimidated of the blade gap. All i can say i wow. There's nothing to be intimidated by?!! The usta blade feels very nice, better than any Derby extra i have tried. Anyways i never thought i would be able to shave atg with a gap that big (big to me:) especially on the upper lip, but it handled it fine with no irritation. Geometry and blade exposure mean a lot more that gap for sure. Very nice, i can understand why people say they shave steep angle with the wr2's. I started out shallow and i soon noticed i could shave at a steep angle, hardly any blade feel. Shaving at a shallow angle i noticed that it felt like there was no blade in the razor at all! So i switched to a steep angle and just barely a wee bit of blade feel, but its barely noticeable its so smooth.

Oh i don't know if anyone read my post about the Lupo .58 and the blade waviness. Well a Wolf (this razor) the blade is gun barrel straight with nary ripple or wave when clamped down in the razor😉.
