witch hazel.yea or nea

I just bought some generic WH at HEB Supermarket here. I'd looked for it at Walgreens, without luck. I still have some Dickinsons on hand, but I use a LOT of the stuff, it's just so useful!.

Whatever else you do, try a bottle of Thayer's peach WH. Dang, that stuff is nice ... scent and soothing for skin as an aftershave and/or post-shave before aftershave splash.

If i remember correctly walgreens had it in with their facial wash, which in mine was right across from the cologne counter. probably all different tho, but its usually found there

Thayer's has a sample WH pack. Nine 2oz bottles for $17. i'm gonna snag that one of these days and try them all!

When it comes time to pick up any kind of WH, there's just no way I can convince my wallet that Thayer's is so much better than any other WH that it should cost anywhere close to the price they are asking. I have happily used the unscented kind for almost 60 years, and the small fixed income amount I receive has to stretch a long way..

I mix normal witch hazel with about 5 drops of lemon oil per 100ml and a teaspoon of lemon juice and it makes it smell really nice.
after every shave I use alum and rinse it off after a couple of minutes then put on witch hazel on my whole face and neck. then nivea balm if i feel i need it.
I even use witch hazel if I just wash my face but don't shave that day.

+1 to the Thayers - it lasts a long time, and has almost no alcohol content, so it's very mild and soothing for me. I got the original with aloe vera, and have been happy with the results. The scent is kind of unusual, but I like it, and it only lasts for a little while after you apply it anyways.

Thayer's can be had for less from Vitacost.

+1 I bought the Thayer's Rose a year ago and still have a lot left!

Some of the posts in this thread convinced me to give WH a shot and I'm glad I did. I didn't pick up anything fancy, just a generic from Walmart, but I've been using it for the past 3 days and I have had absolutely no irritation and I found it quite refreshing. I've been using it after a cold rinse and before my ASB. I do think that I'll give a scented WH a try at some point though. Especially since the balm I use has little or no scent. (Nivea sensitive)

I use an alum block, let it dry, then rinse it off thoroughly with cold water. Pat dry.

Then Thayers Superhazel with aloe vera. Let it dry, then AS (skin food usually).

This prolonged process really enhances the experience and it works because I'm getting dressed anyway between the steps.

I'm not really looking to add to my shave routine, but I just needed a few bucks to put me over for free shipping on Amazon, so I added a bottle of the unscented alcohol free Thayers with aloe vera.
