Speick or Proraso green?

Does Speick smell a little like Gin?

gin? not entirely. maybe 'herbal', which is akin to some gins.

@TripleB not to complicate your choices, but I might recommend getting a bottle of Thayers witch hazel, or a bottle of Stirling's witch hazel & aloe toner (non-alcoholic). You can use that and follow with any alcohol splash or aftershave balm that you want.

Thank you for that recommendation!

Someone else had mentioned the same thing so I picked up some Dickinson's Witch Hazel Astringent for $4 locally. I really like using it compared to the Alum block!

I appreciate you responding with help!

I try to avoid alcohol based aftershaves and stick with non-alcohol witch hazel based facial toners. i can recommend….
- Stirling Witch Hazels. They sell 1 ounce sample bottles. I have tried several with favorites ithat include Lemon Chill and Orange Chill which include menthol. Coniferous is very nice
- Maggards line of non-alcohol witch hazel with strong scents that match their soaps. I have their London Barbershop, Limes and Bergamot both highly recommended
- Lucky Tiger facial toner. It has a wonderful citrus scent that lasts only about 60 seconds. (Maggards sells samples)

Personally, I not only use these after a shave, but first thing in the morning after a splash of water on my face. The menthol versions of Stirling really help wake up my face.
