What soaps have you been disappointed with?

Cella red. It was a good soap, until it turned rancid in the heat of summer.

Unfortunately, the red Cella in a jar has two problems:
- if you close the jar before the soap is completely dry, it can cause rancidity phenomena.
- it can cause semi-allergic reactions to those who are intolerant to benzaldehyde, a molecule responsible for the typical almond aroma.
For the rest, in my opinion, it remains a good product, even if I prefer the new green to Aloe (vegetable = no rancidity and does not contain benzaldehyde).

Closing the container wasn't the problem, because I always leave the lid off with the container propped on it overnight. It gets quite hot here in the summer, and I feel that is most likely the problem.
Anyway I too really like Cella green.

Since members liked the smell and some considered the cream better, I got a small tube of Trumpers Rose on Amazon for about $11 with some Thayers Rose to see how it plays out.

Thanks!

I hear you on the rancidity. Happened to me. Now I leave it upside down in the wash basin overnight. I also had skin irritation the first time I used it. Some products don't bother me on the second try. This was one of them. That said, I don't think I will be replacing my current tub when it runs out.

Thayers Rose is great. GFT Coral Skin Food is the companion aftershave balm for their rose soap and cream, in case you want to find a companion aftershave for the shave cream. That said, while I love the scent of GFT rose, I find the performance of the soap lacking. Let us know how the cream does.

The TFS has the aroma and consistency of red Cella but is veg based so I’m sure it would last longer. So far as rancidity that is…

Also costs less. If you REALLY like it, you can get a Kilo for $20 at Italian Barber.

The latest disappointment is Noble Otter Hamam.
The listed scents are:
Saffron, Bergamot, Petitgrain, Jasmine Absolute, Geranium, Wet Stone, Sandalwood, Tonka Bean.
If I preheat the shaving mug, the scent is a little better, but the only scent I can pick out is the wet stone.
As a shaving soap, it's fine. As a shaving experience it's a letdown.
I bought it as a change from Lonestar. I could smell all the scents.
