Razor: Vintage Gillette - Super Speed Tech, No Notch 1947 (My Birth Year) Blade: DORCO Stainless Blade - Made in Vietnam - DAY # 1 USEAGE.
Bowl: N/A Soap/Cream: Cremo - Refreshing Mint, smells is great. Brush/Instrument: Fingers/Omega Boar Extra Stuff: Witch Hazel
Today used my Vintage Gillette - Super Speed Tech, No Notch 1947 (My Birth Year) was purchased off E-bay from seller who does mostly Vintage Razors, and is stand up honest seller. Shave was three passes, with, across, & against the grain, using a DORCO Stainless Blade - Made in Vietnam, chops down Beard like Hot Knife Cutting Cold Butter, easy as 1, 2, 3, Blade is Super Sharp, and Efficient. Today was DAY # ONE for using this Blade, came out of my Orphan Blade Ziplock. Fell in love with this orphan, as it was first use ever of this Blade.
Shave today was Dam Fine Shave but did not achieving perfection rating, would be 9.8, Close to BBS. Results were great because I payed a lot of attention to Technique, Head Angle, and Pressure, reaped rewards, of DFS for doing so. I do not chase BBS, but still got Another Great Shave.
Using newly opened fresh Tube of Cremo - Refreshing Mint, Black Cap, No 90 day supply nonsense on tube. This scent is very very nice, it doesn’t knock you over, but scent is present. It leaves a slight tingling sensation like menthol post use. Still working in the Cremo into my beard with my Omega Boar, it seems to helped getting Beard to stand up for closer shave. Working with Brush on Face don’t lather Cremo much, but seem to help raise Beard for Shaving off.
I am a Vintage Gillette Junkie, That is almost all I own, Vintage Gillette’s work well for me, never failing to give a Dam Fine Shave with New Sharp Blade. I can’t imagine much better results from a modern super razor. Sorry but people need to try a Vintage Gillette if they haven’t with an open mind, if they don’t own one. Think of about snagging a Tech, Super Speed, or Slim adjustable as a First Vintage Gillette. IMHO a Vintage Gillette’s are a lot of bang for the buck.
I decided to go fresh because I wanted to try the Italian Palmolive Refreshing cream I found yesterday in a small grocery store next to my place, and I didn't want to add a confounding factor. Razor was a King C. Gillette a very little loose, which I find perfect in order to reach a good shave.
The result, was a super comfortable, refreshing DFS. On my cheeks it was a BBS, but on my neck I didn't feel the guts to push any further. It's not my best favourite scent, but very enjoyable anyway. My father came to visit me, and I convinced him to try it with a sharing of the great result ("I've never had a shave so close to BBS"). I really like this combination in sight of summer! We have 9°C here today, so it's getting too warm for my standards :'-D .
I'm really in love with this blade: affordable, yet sharp and smooth.
