What is your EDC knife?

IMG_1517.jpeg

This side doesn't look so bad after some rubbing with a microfiber cloth, but, the other side is scratched up worse from trying my hand with a Lansky deluxe guided sharpening set. This side you can only see a small bit of scratches at the point. I will keep working on it and eventually try sending it to Benchmade to see what they say. This is a Custom Mini Barrage and a favorite of mine. Definitely not something you should try your hand at for a new sharpening system. Live and learn.

The Opinel Picnic+ just arrived…. (Yes, Hannes, I’m busy today. )

This set comes with the Opinel No. 8 as well as the fork and spoon attachment.

I figured that the Opinel No. 8 is another good entry “point” into collecting knives.

This No. 8 is the stainless steel version.

And ready for EDC.

I wouldn’t say I’m quite ready for bush-crafting, but I do feel ready to tackle cutting up an apple and eating it without getting my hands dirty.

And then there were two…

I also just learned about the “Opinel Knock” for opening this knife.

Is this the official knife of Le Mans? 😉😀
Danish knifemaker VoxKnives (@voxnaes) • Instagram photos and videos - https://www.instagram.com/voxnaes/?hl=en that teamed up with an Italian company. Not sure how high Le Mans was on their list of priorities.

The stock is quite hefty (4mm?) but due to the blade height and flat grind it’s a capable cutter. I like the scales of fiberglass reinforced nylon as they are sturdy and don’t scratch anything else that you keep in your pocket or the fabric itself.

That's kind of neat. Like a modern version of a hobo knife.
