Father/son shave today (photo courtesy of my son). I wanted to give the Timeless 38 another shot after sidelining it for a while. I’m discovering that sometimes first impressions can be wrong and when you revisit a razor it can positively surprise you. Sometimes a shift in technique or just slowing down can deliver a completely different experience. That wasn’t the case today. No nicks or weepers, but the Ti38 simply doesn’t have the blade clamping to use it ATG on my upper lip. As soon as I tried I could feel it skipping across my skin. Instead I opted for a 2nd XTG pass and even added a 3rd XTG pass just below my nose. Even with a Perma-sharp the net result was disappointing with a shadow left behind on my upper lip. I think this is it for me and the Ti38 and it will exit my rotation. SAS+.

Wishing you some pleasant shaves.

Semogue Saturdays!

Hello friends

Beautiful Saturday. I took the opportunity to try out my new soap, SV Morado, with a splendid fragrance and a phenomenal post shave. With it, Pegasus Mistura produced an abundant and slick leather. I went back to Rex Ambassador @6/5/4 and the blade that, for me, goes best with it, Perma-Sharp (1). I finished with my favorite AS, Floïd The Genuine and complemented it with Davidoff Zino.

With us, the brilliant Ben Webster and Harry "Sweets" Edison.

What more could I want?

Rating: 10

Have a nice weekend and great shaves!

Brush - Omega 10777
Soap - Arko
A/S - Gillette Aftershave Gel
DFS 8/10

Not sure if I like this blade or not; the shave wasn't bad, but it's certainly not as comfortable on the first shave as the carbon steel Treets I usually use in this razor, but we'll see if it gets any better.

Inspired by my 3ONE6, I went in for a new 1.05 plate on my Game Changer. Very nice! The geometry is a bit different from the 3ONE6; I expect it’ll take me a few days to dial in fully. But on the first shave, looks like this end of the Game Changer spectrum is going to work much better for me than the 0.68P.

This one is my favorite GC plates by far. Enjoy!

Seventh and last shave with the Perm-Sharp Super Stainless blade. Pretty good shave again this morning. No blood, no real irritation and very minimal sting when I applied my Alum Block. I have quite enjoyed using this blade for this week and now I have to chose another razor and blade for my next weeks efforts. This morning’s rating is another 8/10.

Notes:

Third shave and no fun! The Platinum and AX weren’t the best match today. Had some weepers and a cut to boot. Ah well, we always have tomorrow’s shave as @Butch Waxx always says.

Enjoy your shave today!

Sunday morning. Not cold yet, but starting to get a bit autumnal.

Micromatic open comb + GEM blade
Simpson Trafalgar T3 Synthetic Fibre brush
Fredricssons Kaffir Lime and Juniper soap
1980s Pierre Cardin aftershave

All good stuff. I've not used the T3 for a few months - reminded me how effective it is at making lather. A pleasant mix of smells between the soap and aftershave.

I'll give it a "9" today.

Sept 8

Razor: Fatip Grande OC
Blade: Feather (1)
Brush: Zenith B03-A26 aluminum pro boar
P/S: Prep cream (Italian)
Soap: Provence Sante Green Tea
A/S: Dickinson's witch hazel
A/S: Floid Vigorosso

DFS++

There was definitely a learning curve with the Fatip Grande + Feather combination. These days, I've grown to like it. The blade is so sharp and the razor clamps it down so it's under control. Very smooth since there is not much resistance. Don't think I'd want to use it every day, but fairly often.
