9.8/10

It's amazing how perspective changes with a shave. Even a dreary weather day of no plans is made into something special with a good shave.

Chose the grooved door SuperSpeed that went to Back Roads Gold for plating. All the razors that received the 24k gold plate treatment look fantastic, but 24k SuperSpeed looks the best out of them.

Got a little razor blade bite. I'm used to the more forgiving blades like Derby that I use. The Accuthrive is sharp stuff.
Still was a great shave. Two passes, ATG and WTG, plus clean-up. I really enjoy the Leviathan splash!

BRG 24K SuperSpeed, Grandslam synth, Accuthrive blade, Leviathan soap, splash, cologne.

Cheers to a good rest of the weekend, wherever you may be!

Today was my first ever try of a Schick Injector (type G I think).
Always interested in this razor as it gets a lot of positive comments here.
Got a magazine of blades and found it easy to insert a fresh one . I lathered up and off I went . Very, very good indeed..quite an efficient little devil! 2 passes and some touch ups got me a mighty fine shave indeed. I like Schick Injectors .
That lovely razor is an E3, sir. Enjoy!

Lately I've been shaving with this super cool Canada Post-War Tech. I have a couple of these but this one was interesting in that it has the 50s style etched cap, Z-2 marked bottom plate, and fat-handle. I thought it may have been a mismatched set, but I received it boxed and cross-referencing it with Mr. Razor I found an identical gold version from the 50s. It's a great shaver, in the way that all the Canada Techs are.

Today’s shave 4/5/25:

Vintage April Shave #3

Pre-Shave: Hot Water Splash
Soap: MSS #4
Brush: Omega 48 Boar
Bowl: Captain's Choice Cobalt Ceramic
Razor: Gillette Tech
Blade: Gillette Perma-Sharp
After-Shave: Fine Santal Absolut
Post-Shave: Nivea Sensitive Balm

Song of the Shave: Ain’t That a Kick In the Head by Dean Martin

Rating: 9 CCS

I thought I was going crazy as I didn’t think I had finished my Perma-Sharp blades before spring break but I couldn’t find them. I moved on to shaving with some loose blades but then I found them today. I have 3 left (2 now). A good shave, BigAlVista’s soap lathers up like no other. 3 passes for a nice easy shave. Sorry for the short review busy day!

I shaved a fortune
Vintage April Shave #2.

I had intended to get this shave in on Friday morning but I came down with some sort of bug my wife got a few days prior.... It's an odd one.... Vertigo with a slight headache. I didn't think it was contagious, just something that happens to us as we age.... according to my doctor, after I had a 2 week bout of Vertigo.... In an event, I was walking around the house, holding onto every surface on my way to the kitchen, bedroom..... you get the picture... Hers only lasted two days and today, this afternoon, I'm starting to feel better... Balanced enough to shower and shave.

I used the 1934 NEW Short Comb Red/Black with one of my 3/7 Wolfman hollow handles. I paid close attention to this shave.... even closer than usual, as the last time I used the 1933? NEW Canada Regent Long Comb and this Short Comb, I wasn't sure I could tell them apart. Today, I could..... The shaving angle sweet spots were slightly different... the SC sounded and felt better at a steeper angle than the Regent.... and it wasn't quite as efficient. I had to do some extra work to get my face smooth. I'm participating in the current Top Tier Blade Bonanza and we're using the Gillette 7 O'clock blade at the moment... I think the LC would be better served with a slightly sharper blade... When I used the two together last year around this time, I used a Perma-Sharp in both... I'll try that next time.

I doubt this translates to the NEW US Long Combs... as there is likely a slight difference between the Canada Regent and the US models... If anyone has both, I'd be interested in your comparisons..

No photo today, as it would look the same as the last one.... and at that distance, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the LC and the SC, I don't think. Both of these razors benefited from a re-plate by Chris @ Back Roads Gold in their hardened 24K gold.... spectacular...

What's next? I'm saving my two Techs for the Feather trials on the Blade Bonanza thread... so I might get one shave in before them with the 7 O'clock blade.... Maybe the Souplex OC Metal deserves a spot... I do have a companion Paragon OC on the way from the UK, but I don't expect it until late this month...

Razor: Enders Speed Razor (Hendrix Adapter)
Blade: Schick Proline B (Shaves: 3, Passes: 9)
20250330_121920~2.jpg

Brush: Wild West Brushworks Invasion (TNS 26mm Original BOSS Fan)
Bowl: Captain's Choice Copper
Lather: Taconic Bay Rum Shave Cream
Post-shave Balm: Nivea
Aftershave: Clubman Pinaud Special Reserve

The Enders (with Hendrix adapter to allow injector blade use) is a really cool razor. Must be used shallow. Not as effective as my best razors but, when used correctly, it provides an excellent, comfortable shave. :001_wub:

Excellent 3-Pass DFS

Got home at about 5:30 tonight and the XO informed me that we are going out to dinner tonight with some friends. A quick shower and shave was absolute. Pressed for time, I had the quickest shave I’ve had in a while. I prayed to the shaving gods that there would be no drama… there was none. Smoothest, easiest shave I think I’ve had in a long time. No pre-shave, no bowl lathering, no problem. The shave took about 5 1/2 minutes and I was about as clean shaven as I possibly could be.

Razor: Gillette 1967 M4 Slim
Blade: Personna Lab Blue (4)
Brush: Simpson Commodore X3 Fibre
Soap: Tabac Original
Aftershave: Tabac

Make it a great day!
