Blade Biter
RFB, 7 O'clock Black, Proraso boar, TOBS Eton College, Aqua Velva.

Had a great shave today, very close and little discomfort. Smooth both during and after the shave with occasional instances of hair melting sensation. If I had used a Tech instead of RFB today, it would be close to a perfect shave.

I love British Gillettes, but I think they really came into strides during the 40s and peaked in the 50s. RFB is not quite there in either comfort or efficiency.

Ask me about shaving naked!
KikuOkan frameback for Frameback Friday. This razor is likely 1950s - mid 1960s, and the design is a cheaper way to make a straight razor which has been around since the 1800s. The frame is not hardened and was sometimes even brass, and the steel was just a small slip of steel onto which the frame was swedged. Minimal amounts of fine steel, which was expensive before the Bessemer process, and no skilled hollow grinding. But they can be very good - because of their design, they are lighter and stiffer than many hollow ground razors, and much lighter than wedges or 1/4 hollow English barber grinds. This one has had the plastic scales replaced with nice horn.

Zenith unbleached boar, D.R.Harris cream, Personna Lab blue blade.
Gillette, made in USA, Sheraton OC . Definitely a top tier TTO in my book.
Love the patina as well as the fantastically smooth shave with this one. Brass head and faded gold handle looks very cool.
Nice amount of blade feel and leaves me with a an irritation free , super smooth end result.
No nicks or weepers and just a great feeling razor in the hand.
The Personna is a lovely blade in combination with the Sheraton….. it’s about as good as vintage shaving gets for me.

Notes:

A brilliantly smooth shave today with two monoliths in the shaving world.

If anyone needs me, I will be in the shed for repairs…the head and handle of the Eclipse decided to separate!
