Vintage April Shave #3
Interesting, and rather unique. Probably the rarest razor I own, as I can't find a trace of another one in existence! @rasoirdangereux owns a "Lix", almost identical to this one, except the Lox locks! The head is secured and released by the included key - I can only assume for use in secure institutions. This is marked patent pending and the baseplate is identical to the later "Velvet" razor (not to be confused with The Velvet razors produced by the Laurel Works in the 30s and 40s for Woolworths) which bears patent no. GB121415A, and would therefore date this to 1918! One of the patentees was Harry Lucas, the son of the founder and Chairman of what would become Lucas Industries.
It's beautifully made, fully chrome-plated, weighing a very solid 99 grams and most importantly, the shave is sublime. It reminds me a lot of the Lambda Athena. Very smooth, very close and am absolute delight. Now, does anyone else have one?
