Hi all, I'm looking for a few recommendations for a great synthetic face latherer.
Looking for something that's close to badger but has the quirks of synthetic such as no pre-soaking and quick drying.

Recently got a G5C knot as my first synth but it didn't feel nice for face lathering. Bristles are too rough on the inside and it doesn't splay evenly which I assume because of it's stiff backbone and all the bristles being even length. It would push to one side.

Really looking for something with similar splay and backbone to my pure badger but without the scratchiness of pure badger. The badger isn't scratchy when it's splayed on my face, it's mostly the tips.
In my opinion, the Mühle 25mm STF knot should meet your requirements.

My brush this week has been the Mühle 25mm STF knot in a wonderful @Rudy Vey handle. A combination that is hard to beat in the world of synthetic brushes. :)

Notes:

Third shave and no fun! The Platinum and AX weren’t the best match today. Had some weepers and a cut to boot. Ah well, we always have tomorrow’s shave as @Butch Waxx always says.

Enjoy your shave today!

I've been using a synthetic brush for quite some time and would like to join the group. My brush of choice (the only one I use actually) is a 25mm synthetic "Chess brush" I got via Etsy. $10/<$15 shipped if I remember correctly. Works just fine. I can't imagine a brush doing any better actually. Not that I'd notice - I'm done shaving in 10-15 minutes and I move on. I have no reason to dwell on the brush aspect of the process. There certainly are other elements to focus on that have an actual bearing on the quality of the shave, like blade and prep.

I think I know the brush you're mentioning; I thought about getting one at one time. Seems like a nice brush.

It's a nice brush. Certainly as capable of any animal bristle brush I've ever tried. I face lather (don't want to miss an opportunity for additional prep!) and it very efficient. I checked before I posted and sadly it's sold out. But i think they're available other places as well. Id love to get one with opposite colors: black handle with white bristles. I only need one though. No need to collect handles.
