I stayed in a room like that with a buddy once, might have been in Leipzig. But the ceiling also sloped down toward the window so you had to mind your head when you sat up in bed.
So a few weeks ago I saw a wallet on FB I really liked. It fit on your belt and I thought it'd be a great travel wallet, safe and secure. So I looked into the pages selling these things and like so many vendors on FB, I came away with a feeling of sketchiness so I avoided them. What I did find was the company that sold the patterns for the wallet...AHA!
I used to do leatherwork years ago and thought "Hmm, perhaps I should get back into it". Then I looked at the tool costs etc and the fact I really don't have any sort of work area to do the crafting so I found a fella who lives in town who is a very good leatherworker.
Now the original pattern had 3 pockets for cards which I felt was one too many...besides trying to keep the thickness down, I only wanted to take 8 or so cards with me. So I adjusted the design and made it 12% smaller so it would fit between the front and side belt loops. It can still take a 1.5" belt as well.
The guy who did the work did an excellent job, it fits the way I want, it doesn't ruin the line of a suit or sports jacket plus I'm not sitting on a wallet as well. Win/win. And the cost was a lot less than me outfitting myself to try and create it for myself.
Not saying I won't get into doing leatherwork but I'm quite pleased with how everything went. Cheers
