The Journal Of Huck...

None of us can Don…none of us can. I sometimes wonder if the mods are considering merging his journal with the safety razor acquisition thread just to save everybody time!
Agreed in full!
I'm up there but fortunately not alone!
I'm seeing some here lately that are giving me a run for my money!!
Whether it’s your painting, photography, cars, shave toys, or reports from afar, your perspective is unique and enjoyable, Don.
Ya know Guido, maybe they should give Larry his own review posting. New razors every week... and yeah, sorry Larry, some might be "giving you a run for your money" but most of us are betting you'll emerge with the most.
Thanx to both you guys, Mark and Thom. Kind words..

Sorry I am late Don, but I appreciate the slow pace you have adopted. I really enjoyed reading about your latest trip instead of 5 pages of posts that I missed while I was gone! It’s nice to have a few of these lower key threads and I always enjoy your art work when you post it. Good luck with the next cruise, but my vote is for Norway!

Yeah, I agree the Nordic countries have my vote

So a friend of my step-daughters had a cat which just died. My SD asked if I would do a painting/sketch of the cat for her friend. She mentioned a commission but honestly, who's gonna pay. Right?
Anyway I have to admit I don't like it when people ask me to do things as far as paintings, drawings are concerned. Stuff for family, friends etc. Because there's no payment involved for my time and product. I dislike doing it because I feel boxed in, if I don't I'm a dick. If I charge and say it will cost, I get the "but it's for...".And I wind up feeling like I'm taking advantage.
I do give my stuff away to friends etc but that's my choice. Like the portrait I did for my friend who has Parkinsons. I did that because I wanted him to know he was my friend and that meant a lot to me. It had a great effect on him. He lit right up and that made the work I did totally worth it. But that was because I wanted to do it.
If someone asks if I'd do something for them or a family member and offer to pay, sure I'll probably do it or try to, depending on what it is.
Anyhow, aside from my "how do you really feel about it" rant, I did the cat portrait and I like how it turned out.
My wife and I were joking that I should open a shop and call it "DDPP Studios"(Dons' Dead Pet Portraits). There might actually be something there to look in to. Hmm, just noticed I have whiskers to add.
Well, here's the cat and cheers to you all.

Great work! The cat's personality really shines and looks like it might be a bit of trouble 😁 .

Ok so the wife has tickets to the curling championships in Moose Jaw Sask. We went the other day and it's a lot of fun. The spectators really get into cheering and everyone is having a good time. No boos for the US team either.
Now the Missus and her sister are off to watch for the weekend. Booked a "mini-suite" whatever that is...just sounds small.
Now it seems that check-in times are steadily getting later and later. I remember when checkins were like 2:00pm. Then it was 3:eek:opm ok...NOW it's 4:00 pm. At this rate your check in will be tomorrow.
But!!! There was an option for an earlier check in for....an extra $40.00 Seriously. She declined the option. So I'm on my own for a couple of days, gonna get more involved with my latest painting. I may do a series of progressions as I move forward with it.
You all have a great weekend.

Have fun!

The wife sent me a pic of their room and it's a hallway with furniture. You have to step over the bed to get to the bathroom. No tub, just a shower I imagine. They call it a "Mini-suite"...I call it a Micro-room. It's too small to even feel claustrophobic in.
Anyway, they had a good laugh about it and then it was off to the curling where Canada won. Cheers
