SuperBowl 44....

Sorry if I offended, but facts are stubborn things. My point was simply that the team's decision to coast to a loss in a regular season game was, in my simple opinion, contrary to the spirit of the game as I was taught it. They sat the starters & just took a dive. As such, they won't get my support. No hate, I'll just wish good on the Jets.

No offense taken. I do understand what you are saying and many feel the same way you do in regards to throwing the perfect season. However, in the history books most look at Lombardi trophy's. I mean look at the Pats, most fans have all but forgotten that they went to the SB undefeated because they lost. If that is the understood objective of playing I see why they did what they did. I don't like it, but I do understand not wanting to risk your starters. It is troubling because I know they could have beat the Jets and walked through the Bills. I have mixed emotions to be sure about tossing the final two games.

You want to have it bad? Try being a Browns fan, transplanted to Michigan ..

Ok, but throwing games is just a little way down the road. Ask Pete Rose, he only bet the Reds to Win, but if they won by less than the margin .. just saying

True, but I don't think the Colts pulling their starters is anything like what Rose did.

One could never prove it anyway, but it just seems wrong when a team "throws" or "tosses" a game. What if me Brownies just didn't come out after halftime in the fourth game of the season, when they are assured of their spot in the playoffs, preferring to save it for next year?

Some would say the fans can vote with their feet, but where would the Hoosiers walk? :001_smile

While I hope you get your wish(JETS win), and I agree you don't trade a chance at history to save your starters, what Stinky Pete did doesn't really apply in this scenario. I think it was a rookie coach playing the "smart" card, I think if Manning had his say in it, the JETS would be watching the playoffs on T.V.. However, karma can be a b-tch. Here's to karma!:thumbup1:

I have two words to say to those who question what the Colts did: Wes Welker.

I'm not a Colts fan and I really don't care all that much, but I think the outrage over the whole thing is a bit much.

This is a very good point, both points in fact.

My question through all of this was what if they do play all there starters and Manning gets hurt trying to win a game that meant nothing and was unable to play in the playoff? The fact of the matter is it is not about winning any one game it is about championships and doing what has to be done.

That being said this Steeler fan remembers being an underdog in Indy. Watch out for those Jets Peyton

I wouldn't say they "threw" the game. That implies that they tried to lose. They built up a lead and then decided to bench the majority of the stars. That doesn't mean the backups didn't come in and try to win the game. I realize that in either case they lost the game, but there's a difference between intentionally losing and trying to win without your best lineup.

Packers fan here, but I'm originally from Indiana so I'm pulling for the Colts. I think we'll get the matchup that most wanted to see 6 weeks ago: Colts vs. Saints.

I think the Colts have too much experience and the Vikings don't play well on the road.

That is the match up I expect to see.

I think Colts vs. Saints would be good, but as long as my beloved Colts are there, I don't really care.

Are you me? I'm from Washington, D.C. and have been a Colts fan for 15 years, though I'm a fan of the Skins, as well.

Even though I consider DC home after living here for a dozen years, I'm a native Hoosier. I was 13 when the Colts moved to Indy, and I've been a fan ever since.

I'm ambivalent about the Skins, but I do take some perverse pleasure in watching how such a tradition- and money-rich team can constantly set new lows for the NFL.

I still think it will be the Saints.

Just about every team I have been pulling for in this year's playoffs has won. So, now I have no one to be against. How odd! I really like the Saints, Vikings, and Colts, and I don't dislike the Jets.

Brett Favre is really something. Maybe the best quarterback, ever. I loved the broadcast comment in Sunday's game. After he threw the third TD pass to the same receiver, one of them said, "Brett Favre really has a lot of confidence in (him)." The other announcer said, "Brett Favre has a lot of confidence in Brett Favre."

But Manning and Brees are no slouches, either. Time will tell.

Go Saints!
