Looking at it now. It’s nicer than I thought. If it isn’t new it’s pretty close. The bevel is absolutely tiny (narrow). Tape or no tape when setting the bevel??? It is so wide I’m inclined to use tape

I’d use thin tape like 1-2 mil Kapton when setting the bevel the first time, to prevent spine wear until the bevels meet (set). If you want to re-set the bevel without tape later, it won’t be a problem.

If you’re new to honing, I’d continue using the Kapton for a while until you master the correct pressure.
