Rookie's journey

Preshave proraso white
Soap Nivea protect
After shave Thayers coconut toner and Nivea sensitive balm
Masadachi razor with personna lab blue 3
Two passes wtg xtg resulting in a dfs (course to ccs). No blood but a bit of a dry itchy sensation. Probably more due to the weather than shave as I have also started treating my hands.

Very relaxing shave but personna and I simply don't get along. In the summer when the air is less dry I will probably finish off the last three blades but for now I'm returning to shark extra chrome blades. They seem to be one of the blades that treat me the best.

In conclusion a relaxing shave.

It might be a bit more boring to read the journal as more and more things are falling into place. But the joy for this hobby has only increased!

Preshave dawn of glory
Soap clinique shave crème
Aftershave Thayers coconut toner and Nivea sensitive balm
Tatara Masadachi razor with shark super chrome 1
Two passes wtg xtg resulting in a DFS. Post shave feels really good.

I'm really torn right now. Clinique shave creme is a really miserable shave. It does not lather one bit but does need additional water to get the right slickness. It gunks the razor in an unacceptable way. Afterward I had to wash the stuff off the blade because I couldn't get is rinsed of. On the other hand, I'm having one of the best Post shave experiences right now. My skin just feels really good.

I'm not going to use the product anymore for now as the experience is simply too miserable. However I do think the product might be a good fit for a straight as the slickness is actually really good and you can't gunk up a straight.

In summary, a really weird shave. But I'm going to choose to focus on the really nice results over the less pleasant method.

Preshave dawn of glory
Soap TGFS re nero
Post shave Re Nero, Nivea sensitive balm and Nivea moisturiser
Tatara Masadachi with shark super chrome 2
Two passes wtg xtg resulting in a clean dfs with no irritation or blood.

Winter is dying my skin too damn hard. I was used to having dry hands but now with shaving at a regular interval seems to also take its toll. At first I thought my pressure was not OK but considering there was no blood or burn, just a dry sensation I believe that dryness might be the root cause. Applying a moisturiser seems to have done the trick so I will be switching to an every two or three days shave for now.
I will also be kicking up the moisturiser game.

The shave itself was really relaxing as I know these products well enough. My skill exclusion with the razor can definitely improve but I'm comfortable enough with it now that I'm confident in using it. Only thing that trips me up from time is the weight.

In conclusion, a wonderful shave though I will have to arm myself to the child winter weather.

Yeah during winter and low humidity it really dries out my face as well. I have to apply jojoba oil to my face after each shave to not be too dry. I do not have this issue in the summertime, but during winter I always do. Seems like you are experiencing the same thing.

Might look into getting some jojoba oil. I see it is one of the ingredients in my go to moisturiser so maybe the pure product can help me as well.

Preshave proraso white
Soap TOBS cedarwood
Post shave Thayers coconut toner, clinique after shave and Nivea moisturiser
OneBlade razor with feather 1
2 passes xtg atg and clean up resulting in a BBS. No blood. Little itchy in the neck.

It was a rush job. I used really airy lather (too much water agitated too fast). Luckily the OneBlade is the perfect razor if you only care about results.

In conclusion a shave where I didn't have time to go through the ritual (unfortunately). The results speak for themselves though.

Full cella with the Masadachi shark super chrome 3
Two passes wtg xtg resulting in a clean DFS 👌 my skin feels amazing I don't feel shaved. As if I just put on moisturiser (the cella as balm)

Today was a wonderful shave I was in the perfect mindset relaxed and show. Took my time for every step. Building the lather slowly adding a lot of water to get a consistency of fat cream. Applying preshave massaging it in. Painting the lather and scrubbing a bit to upright the hairs.
Then the shave, relaxed making small unhurried strokes paying attention to angle while keeping soft contact. Softly stretching the skin. Not too hard reducing the skins ability to absorb the pressure without damaging but at the same time firm enough to avoid the skin bunching up before the blade.

In conclusion, I learned even skin stretching had more nuance than I originally believed. The shave was really nice. Makes me appreciate the smooth DFS.

Razor Masadachi with feather blade 1
Two passes wtg xtg resulting in a nice DFS slightly closer than last time I'd say. No blood or irritation but I do feel shaved (very slight tension on the skin)

Today I tried the feather blade. I was especially curious as this was tatara's sales pitch 'the razor tames a feather blade'. And I have to say after the lab blue I was a bit hesitant luckily unfounded as the shave was wonderful and the blade treated me well.
I'm curious on the shelf life of the blade in a tatara.

In conclusion, a wonderful shave. It pays to take your time and keep your mind in the moment. Thinking about other things during shaving is a good way to hurt yourself.

Full cella finishing up with a couple of drops of jojoba oil.
Masadachi with feather blade 2
3 passes wtg xtg xtg resulting in a clean DFS with no irritation or blood.

Simply a good shave. The post shave feeling before the jojoba oil was already amazing. Felt as if hadn't shaved. My skin really absorbed the oil fast. I was a bit afraid that it would be overly greasy but I'm pleasantly surprised. Next time I'll be trying castor oil.

In conclusion wonderful shave. Seems my skin is starting to gain some moisture.

Preshave shower and face lathering
Soap Nivea protect
Post shave Nivea sensitive balm and castor oil
Oneblade razor with feather 2
2 passes xtg plus elaborate clean up resulting in a clean DFS. No blood or irritation.

Long day at the office and my grandma her garage flooded. So after that I needed a shower to be clean and a shave to decompress. Nivea soap was really slick. I added a lot of water and it really brings out the best out of the soap.
Shows me again how going back with more skill and knowhow can really beef up a product.

The castor oil is really heavy. Gives a greasy feel which I would not appreciate after a morning shave but now in evening I don't really mind. I'll have to see how I'll use it. I do prefer the jojoba atm. One small remark is that the jojoba isn't pure. It is a mixture with other oils. Mainly sunflower seed oil and a couple of other natural oils.

I shaved a fortune
Just a note: Personna Comfort Coated blades USA have been a mixed bag for me.. By this I mean... I've had 3 duds with them.. 3 blades that were...hmmmmm... how do I put this politely.... "garbage"?... I switched each of them out with the next one in queue... and the shave was brilliant. You might have a dud thrown in for fun...

Now, the Personna Germans were so bad, I threw away 97 blades or so, after giving them three chances.... I didn't feel comfortable even giving them away. This was before the new labeling of the Personnas with the ensuing confusion. I haven't tried any of the "new" AccuThrive or AccuForge blades as I have 600, minus a handful, of the Comfort Coated USA blades.

Yeah castor oil will take a bit longer to be absorbed by the skin. If you want another fast absorbing oil it would be grape seed oil. Also great for the skin. Personally I am a sucker for jojoba though.

Sounds rough! It might be. I still have 3 blades left of the personnas so I will finish them off... someday. Currently my favourite blades are the shark super chrome.
When I was looking around for the personna it wasn't easy to identify the different versions.
