Rookie's journey

Preshave proraso white
Soap Nivea protect
After shave Thayers coconut toner and Nivea sensitive balm
Masadachi razor with personna lab blue 3
Two passes wtg xtg resulting in a dfs (course to ccs). No blood but a bit of a dry itchy sensation. Probably more due to the weather than shave as I have also started treating my hands.

Very relaxing shave but personna and I simply don't get along. In the summer when the air is less dry I will probably finish off the last three blades but for now I'm returning to shark extra chrome blades. They seem to be one of the blades that treat me the best.

In conclusion a relaxing shave.

It might be a bit more boring to read the journal as more and more things are falling into place. But the joy for this hobby has only increased!

Preshave dawn of glory
Soap clinique shave crème
Aftershave Thayers coconut toner and Nivea sensitive balm
Tatara Masadachi razor with shark super chrome 1
Two passes wtg xtg resulting in a DFS. Post shave feels really good.

I'm really torn right now. Clinique shave creme is a really miserable shave. It does not lather one bit but does need additional water to get the right slickness. It gunks the razor in an unacceptable way. Afterward I had to wash the stuff off the blade because I couldn't get is rinsed of. On the other hand, I'm having one of the best Post shave experiences right now. My skin just feels really good.

I'm not going to use the product anymore for now as the experience is simply too miserable. However I do think the product might be a good fit for a straight as the slickness is actually really good and you can't gunk up a straight.

In summary, a really weird shave. But I'm going to choose to focus on the really nice results over the less pleasant method.

Preshave dawn of glory
Soap TGFS re nero
Post shave Re Nero, Nivea sensitive balm and Nivea moisturiser
Tatara Masadachi with shark super chrome 2
Two passes wtg xtg resulting in a clean dfs with no irritation or blood.

Winter is dying my skin too damn hard. I was used to having dry hands but now with shaving at a regular interval seems to also take its toll. At first I thought my pressure was not OK but considering there was no blood or burn, just a dry sensation I believe that dryness might be the root cause. Applying a moisturiser seems to have done the trick so I will be switching to an every two or three days shave for now.
I will also be kicking up the moisturiser game.

The shave itself was really relaxing as I know these products well enough. My skill exclusion with the razor can definitely improve but I'm comfortable enough with it now that I'm confident in using it. Only thing that trips me up from time is the weight.

In conclusion, a wonderful shave though I will have to arm myself to the child winter weather.

Yeah during winter and low humidity it really dries out my face as well. I have to apply jojoba oil to my face after each shave to not be too dry. I do not have this issue in the summertime, but during winter I always do. Seems like you are experiencing the same thing.

Might look into getting some jojoba oil. I see it is one of the ingredients in my go to moisturiser so maybe the pure product can help me as well.
