Review on BIC Chrome Platinum DE Razor Blade

gpjoe

Slickness is a sickness
Shave #2, same razor, blade, brush, soap.

DFS+, no irritation, minor feedback from AS, one weeper (nothing that I consider outside the norm or unusual).

A great shave. 🙂👍

I really like Bic blades. Sharp with great longevity.
Definitely sharp haha.
maybe too sharp for me.

I do enjoy the BIC blades (whether the CP or the Astor- to me they are almost the same, Astor is shortly lived compared to the CP) in my Fatip Grande OC. Have some 300 pcs stashed :)
I have 4 bic Chrome platinum blades left. I’m trying out the Gillette 7 o’clock yellow again

@CaptKirk1988, nice review! Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
No problem sir! I love doing reviews!

Better than I. glad it’s working for you!

It is difficult to get useful information from reviews of razor blades. Everyone has different facial skin, shaving techniques, and so on. Therefore, all blades need to be tested on yourself. However, this has been discussed many times. And there is no point in creating another topic for discussion.

This may depend on your definition of 'useful.'

I have a history as an audiophile, and the way various equipment and record engineering "sound" to a person is subjective (to some arguable degree).

What that means to me: if people say something is a real stinker, I'm probably not interested in auditioning it.

Conversely, if people say something has a lot of good qualities and give it a thumbs up, then it's a candidate for my own investigations.

I think the same heuristic works for shave gear.

YMMV.

What shaving stuff ”should” I review?

Whatever you choose. 🙂 Always good to get a fresh perspective, and we all accept that it is one man's opinion.

Shave #3

I changed things a bit:

GC 68P
Vintage Old Spice soap
SoC Mistura

Got another wonderful shave. DFS+, no blood.

Awesome shave.

of course I can review whatever I like. I just don’t wish to upset people or clog up the forums. So I’m not 100% sure how to proceed.

worst case scenario is my reviews can be seen as entertainment. Haha. But honestly I don’t think it hurts to do reviews. But amteure (or however you spell the username) has a point. Blades are so “experience for yourself“. An example. Your shaves with the current blade have been slightly better than mine.

Nicks and cuts are operator error, not the fault of the blade. Too much pressure, too much blade exposure, etc. Too much pressure is my failing.

I have a Bic Chrome Platinum scheduled for next year sometime, as I get upwards of 70 shaves on good blades. If they are anything like Personna blades, should get 120 or so shaves out of one.

The problem is that whatever you choose to review has already been reviewed countless times in the past. Trying to say something new or original is almost impossible about almost everything because it’s already been said in the 20 years B&B has been around. A summary of every review or comment about Bic blades would be:
1. They’re sharp.
2. Some folks like them, some don’t.
3. You have to try them for yourself.

Anything else is just superfluous fluff that is your opinion/experience but doesn’t tell the reader anything useful.

You're fine.

Just post your experiences, like we all do. Of course there will always be differences of opinion but as long as those are handled in a gentlemanly manner, it's all fine.

Look, I forgot about my Bic blades until your post caused me to rediscover them...it's a win, regardless of the fact that we experienced different results, or that the blades have been reviewed before.

I appreciate different and fresh perspectives...and I'm not too stubborn to believe that I cannot learn something new.

Wow, that's a lot of shaves on a single blade. 🙂👍

And another thought, @CaptKirk1988:

You can also start a journal, and post your thoughts and reviews. Since it is basically your own "space", you have a bit wider latitude in posting stuff that is important to you without having to worry about "clog(ging) up the forums".

A lot of folks read and post in the journals daily.

I'm certainly not trying to discourage your participation in any of the other forums, but if you ever doubt whether or not a post is relevant, or maybe just have a random thought that you wish to share, you can put it in your journal.
