It seems a few shavers that regularly use a 34C find the GOAT too different -- complain about different muscle memory or that it's too aggressive. I think it could be the cutting angle is a tad different.

My favorite razor is probably the Overlander, though I really enjoy the Blutt. Anyway, I pulled the trigger on the GOAT over the weekend. So hopefully I'll have it in my possession next week. I hope I don't find it to be too much.

On a side note: I've never seen the La Faulx up close; but for some reason the GOAT's scalloped safety bar reminds me of it -- even though the GOAT doesn't have the extended leading edge. Just throwing that out there.
The scalloped safety bar is also close to the Rocnel Elite 2023 hybrid... and the Yaqi 37 Slant... I look forward to using it...

I got my GOAT earlier this afternoon... Along with the BBS and two base plates.... The little plastic bags were taped for some reason....taped to the receipt. What did I do? I dropped the OC base plate right onto the concrete.... That's what I get from opening it outside so I could throw away the box.... Damage? Two very small nicks on each end of the base plate in the exact middle, on the top...... no damage to the teeth, thankfully.... a bit of filing with two different grit emery boards... and a final polish on my jewelry polishing benchtop buffer... As good as new? No..... You can still see the little nicks, but you can't feel them.... Battle scars even before I used it. LOL... I guess it will eventually be an "antique" and cause someone to notice them, 100 years from now, if it survives that long... and wonder what happened....

I don't yet know if I made a wise choice to buy these two razors ahead of my planned schedule... but the upcoming tariffs was the enabler this time... not my B&B brethren... <eg>
Oh no Kim!
You can always write them and explain what happened. They might sympathize and just send you a new base plate. You never know!

The nicks are so slight, they won't affect the performance at all.... They are only noticeable when you look closely now... They aren't raised bumps, so the blade will still fit snug. It is a reminder to me why I shave with a thick bathroom mat under my feet at the sink when I'm shaving. <eg>

My GOAT arrived today, on time. I took it out of the box. Very nice looking razor, typical of RazoRock. Fit and finish is perfect. Now, I box it back up and save it until May. From the reviews I have read and watched, I am expecting it to be similar to the .84 Game Changer but we will see.

Edit: The one thing I noticed is how short the threaded stud is. It is plenty long enough to do the job but I would like it to be a bit longer to have more threads going into the handle. Just my petty OCD malarkey.

Judging from the site they say it should be between the .76 and .84. I'm sort of hoping it'll feel more like a Rockwell 6s using plate 5 or 6. :) I can't wait to find out. I'll let you know. heh

What razor do you normally use?

Merkur Progress on 1 or 1.5. Also recently got a Mühle R89 which ended up being a wonderfully mild and smooth shaver.

Did you try it for more than one shave?
I cannot believe the GOAT is much more aggressive than the GameChanger 68 or the Merkur 34HD. I got the impression it would be milder than the Merkur HD.

Nooooooo. Once was enough for me.

For me a smooth shave is a comfortable shave!
I'm trying to figure out what you felt during the shave?
Are you feeling too much blade or maybe too much efficiency?
Those are the only things I see that could make it uncomfortable for some. Blade feel during the shave and too much post shave efficiency. But I personally feel light blade feel and the right efficiency on this one!

What I felt was rough and dangerous. IDK if that’s blade gap, blade feel, or what. I like mild razors.

Got it!
Now I understand.
I guess the GOAT can be too much for someone that enjoys what you seek. I'll take that into consideration whenever I review a razor.
I tend to forget that I like razors that are more on the aggressive & very efficient end of the spectrum and some (like you) enjoy the opposite. Good to know!! 👍

Exactly why the F/A-18 Super Hornet does not fly like the Wright Flyer (aka the 1903 Flyer) but it sure is a great tribute to it.

Joking aside, sometimes the original is a tough act to follow, which makes them all the more precious. The main draw to the GOAT is that it is made of SS and is 3-piece versus a 2-piece brass and cast zinc alloy.

Different strokes for everyone.
As someone who sees F-18s (+ F-35s) on an almost daily basis - I enjoyed the laugh.
Reminds me of the Tomcat / Zero sequence from that film - The Final Countdown with Kirk Douglas and Martin Sheen

Someone already said it, the BBS-A is imo by far the best plate. The AS is a bit too mean.
We'll see... the BBS-OC couldn't have been better... and I don't enjoy too much efficiency, so the "A" base plate might be a bit much.... After months of trials and too much money, I settled on a SuperSlant L2++OC... supposedly more efficient than their L2+ and ++.. Both of those were too efficient for me, but the OC has been perfect every shave....

Hopefully, I'll enjoy both the OC and the "A" base plates... I'll know tomorrow... as I'm not a daily shaver.
