Razor of the Year 2024

Iridian

Cool and slimy
I have somewhat trolled this thread from the start, but it also made me start pondering the question...

In a way it is not quite as bad as asking me what my favorite book is, or favorite book of the year.

While my all time favorites are still Timeless Slim OC and Superslant L3++ OC or Wunderbar, my razor of the year is the...

YAQI TRIFECTA

This one surprised me so positively and gave such a good shave, plus its "shim plates" system is quite ingenious, it is not only innovative, it also shaves really good, very high efficiency and fun to shave with.

Granted, the fancy new DSCosmetic Ti handles I got with it helped a lot, too.

Honorable blade mention: Suneko Amorphous Diamond. Not inexpensive, high shipping, and then they were really somehow wet/dirty when I unpacked the first blade. Not a good start.

But they turned out to shave extremely well. They kinda remind me of a better Astor, another stainless blade that wow-ed me late in the year.

For me, this is definitely the Lambda Athena Ti with a mirror polished finish.
Beautiful, sturdy, well made and most importantly, it shaves superbly.
I know that there are many titanium razors, but very few manufacturers report exactly what titanium alloy they use. This clearly indicates that in most cases, the composition is a compromise option, and not the indestructible material that people probably imagine.
With Lambda Athena, the material is clearly described - titanium grade 5, that is, the strongest, the one that is used in high technologies, such as aviation, astronautics, Formula 1, etc. This of course makes it the most difficult to process and polish, so the mirror finish makes it very special.

Considering that most of us are planning to enjoy a peaceful Christmas and a happy hopeful new year. I am nominating a razor I got from Ukraine a few months before they were invaded. I have a couple of razors that are rare, many that aren't, but this one leaves me pondering the precious nature of life and liberty. Every time I shave with it I think about all the lives lost and affected over there and how blessed we are to be here and safe.

I love your post.

I was communicating with Smart-Helix to purchase when the war broke out. Not a word since. Which is as it should be. The desire to buy is gone, but the desire to know they are well and safe remains.
