Got mine today. Almost a dead-ringer for Tam Dao body lotion.
Unfortunately, my face started feeling a mild burn during the shave. I have never had this kind of reaction to any other shaving product. I guess strong essential oils do have the potential to irritate the skin.
I halfway expected it to be similar to the two biggest sandalwood incense bombs I own -- Minorien Fu-In Sandalwood and Shah Agarbatti sandalwood dhoop -- but what I discovered when I opened the tub was a scent that was very restrained, yet more potent when lathered up. It retains the scent of the EO, which is slightly astringent as others have noted. Very austere, along the lines of Tam Dao.I really like QED's sandalwood soap. I think it has the best and truest scent of all the sandalwood soaps I've tried but I don't think there is anywhere near as much EO in there as their other soaps. In other words, I wish it had a bit more. This is not exactly unexpected give the cost and scarcity of top quality sandalwood EO. I hear-by declare that I would pay more for a QED sandalwood soap with additional precious fluid.
I used it this morning. It's a good soap but being a tallow-head, I'm a bit biased. Still, it smelled nice and provided an adequate shaving base.

Agreed, and totally know what you mean. But I can't bring myself to stop using his soaps, much less get rid of them. They just smell too good!
