PIF: I Love Youse Guys/Gals

I love this pif, thank you for the opportunity not only to win but to learn some interesting things about animals. I have always loved animals and their interesting lives. This pif comes after I just watched several specials on different animals and their behaviors. Like:

A rat can go longer without water than a camel
A hummingbird is the only animal that can fly backwards
For those that have not seen the North America specials on Discovery, there is a unique group of bottlenose dolphins that work together in the marshes of Georgia and at low tide (water is merely inches deep) and herd their prey up onto the banks of the marsh. Only place in the world where this happens.
And one of my favorites (since sharks are the coolest things on this planet) cows kill more people than sharks.

I watched that the other day! The behaviour of those dolphins is nothing short of extraordinary!!! It'll be really interesting to see, over time, if future generations follow this method. What's even cooler is that they've formed a sort of symbiotic relationship with the seagulls, who are able to partake in the feast.

flies taste with their feet. most sharks have 5 gills, if you see one with 6, it is an older more ancient species of shark.

Male penguins find a female to mate with, by scowering the land for the most perfect rock. He then presents this rock to a possible female penguin and if she approves they will be mating partners for life.

Not in, but...

Rabbits are in a family called Lagomorphs. They produce two types of droppings, one type they reingest and get more nutrients out of it.

Gross, eh? Thank you High School Wildlife management class.

Something I learned living in an area with cold ( sub-zero ) winters... Goldfish are "freezer friendly". They can survive being completely frozen in water as long as they are allowed to thaw slowly ( you can't just toss the goldfish ice-cube into a pot of warm water & have him happy & healthy ).
