I had my second (recent) shave with a Gillette 7 O'clock black ninja a few minutes ago in the Yaqi Ghost 0.90.... As usual, I'm a one and done guy, so I have no idea what a second and following shaves with one would be like, but I have to say.... This is an excellent blade for me... I bought 130 of them early on and hadn't used one for well over 2 years now... I had forgotten how good they are. Are they better than a Perma-Sharp or Nacet or a few of the other excellent blades I have? Well, at 3 times the price or so, I doubt I'll buy any more, but I suspect I'll be using them up in no time....
As I mentioned in this year's Blade Bonanza, I forgot the lesson from one of the shave masters here (@Cal ): Always wear your white belt.... I was shaving quickly, with overlapping short strokes, and as I changed directions, I wasn't paying close enough attention and nicked my lower lip... You know... when you take a little chunk out of your lip.. not a slice... just a small chunk... <eg>... It was significant enough that it took a couple dabs of liquid styptic to stop the blood flow.... Nothing serious, but lesson learned (again).
I've been using Stirling pre-shave along with @blethenstrom and have been comparing it to the PAA Cube 2.0. It doesn't seem to lather as well from my CC soap locker, but this could be because I didn't do as good of a job melting it into the soap locker.. or that's just the way it is.... In any event, it seems to be doing its job.... I haven't noticed any difference between the two in performance during the shave.
Not much else going on... Well, that isn't quite true... As you know, we've been struggling to get my wife's car free of leaks in the trunk.... and getting all the mold/mildew out of it... The smell was affecting her eyes and lungs... not a good thing... The body shop found some additional leaks they missed the first time around... Fixed them... and we had one of those detailing guys do a deep clean on the interior and trunk.... She was without a car for 2 and a half weeks... she says 3... and is probably right, as usual... Anyway, we picked the car up yesterday.... It already smelled pretty nice... and left the windows and trunk open for the whole afternoon yesterday.. She reported back to me... as she was driving the 2.5 hours down to help out with our granddaughter, the car smelled excellent. Whew... What a relief... We had been considering trading it in, but we'd have taken a pretty big hit. It's been preying on my mind for a few months now. I feel much better... They had it over a weekend where we had a torrential downpour for 4 or 5 hours and the trunk was dry as a bone...
