Parker razors...

I was thinking of getting a Parker Variant, but since I already have a Merkur Progress, it would probably be redundant. Other than that, I have one of each type of Parker head now, including the adjustable injector.

The Maggard V3 is definitely a different head than the Parker closed comb 3-piece. In addition to the top caps being different, the baseplates are also slightly different. I enjoyed the Parker shave a lot more than the V3. The Parker was both close and comfortable.

Also, I found out that all Parker TTO heads are the same.
I keep hearing that they are all the same yet my 66R and my 99R certainly do not shave the same. FWIW, I have three Parkers and have had zero quality issues with either.

The guy from Super Safety Razors said all TTO razors share the same head, but may shave differently due to the weight and length of the handles.

All the Parkers I have are built and finished just as good as any other zamak razor I have.

Addendum to my previous thoughts on the 87R: I would say that it's more aggressive than some of my milder TTO razors (Van Der Hagen, Baili), but since improving my technique the 87R provides me a very nice shave. From my perspective, Parker razors are a good value for the money.

I've had 2 parkers. I can't remember the models but both were 3 piece heads, large handled, with a closed comb. The first one broke the threading from the handle as it was in my rucksack at XTC at Ft Bliss. I can't blame that on the razor, my ruck got tossed, thrown, dropped, and generally abused. I still have my second one that replaced the first.

Honestly I liked both of them a lot.

I have the 97R which is Parker's version of the Merkur 34C. I use it for travel because it's on the smaller side and it's more agressive than my Merkur 33C (same head as the 34C with a thinner handle and less weight). Out of the common brands, Parker is my favorite. I find them more efficient/aggressive than the Merkur's. I like that!
I've also found that the current build quality of Parker is superior to Merkur.
I also had the Parker Variant adjustable but sold it soon after I bought it. It seemed well built and I'm sure it works for some but I didn't get smooth shaves out of it plus the head was too bulky.
My Pearl Flexi beat the Variant in absolutely everything. And It's made in India, just like the Parkers are!
