Nivea Sensitive Gel vs Any Soap

I'll try it for sure!
Have you ever used SV? I am thinking of buying Dolomiti. If so, you could tell if the difference from Haslinger is huge?

SV soaps are very good, no doubt, but for me not really worth their cost. The very strong scents or cologne type scents are not my favorites. Ingredient lists seem unnecessarily long and elaborate. SV lather has a creamy like quality, probably from the surfactant ingredient Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate (SCI). If I were to buy one of the SV soaps, it would probably be the Tundra Artica or Mirto Di Sardegna.

Haslinger is one of my favorite soaps, when it can be found at reasonable cost ~$4.50 per puck. Performance has everything I need. I'm content with simpler soaps with low scent strength.

Hmm ok...I don't enjoy strong scents either I thought SV wasn't in that category. Stirling gave me some light irritation and I gave it away but if I explain it correct it felt "richer" than the Haslinger to me, like the lather was more dense more creamy and I liked that, maybe it was tallow. So I am looking for something similar.

You might like DR Harris soaps. They are one of the few hard milled soaps still available that have a tallow base. Scents can be on the lighter side. The lightest scent is probably Almond. There are several other scents depending on what you prefer (Windsor, Arlington, Lavender, etc.). You would want the more recent 100g refill pucks.

Almost identical to DR Harris, but only half the cost is the Cyril R Salter Solid soap. It has a barbershop citrus+lavender type scent.

One other soap I'll mention is the LEA Classic puck in the silver & blue package. It's a hard milled veggie-base soap with a light sandalwood+moss scent, lightly mentholated. Reasonably priced.

These are available from Connaught in the UK at good prices.

Keep working with the Haslinger, make sure to load plenty of soap and add enough water. Experiment and you may find it gets better with some practice.

DR Harris sounds nice, I will check them now. Cyril R Salter is not available in Greece.
I think I will stay with Haslinger for now just try more scents and experiment with my lather.
Thank you again for your time!!!

Both are great but I do prefer the gel over the foam.

I just tried the gel this morning and was pleasantly surprised.

It contains both glycerine and witch hazel and was really nice to use.

I did squirt too much out the first time as I had no idea how much it expanded during application. That 200 ml can should last a looong time.

Isn't amazing for a canned Gel at tha price?

A little tip: put a small amount on wet hands and rub your hands together just to create lather (1-2 seconds), apply on your face and then add a tiny amount of water on your hands and work the lather on your face (it can't hold the amound of water of a soap, so only some drops of water) but add water until you have a nice shiny lather.
I have left my Nivea gels on the shelf and trying some soaps for now but I will always use them.

Thanks, I will try that. It did appear to be a bit thirstier than others but I got really good results first time out.

I bought a D.R Harris Windsor today, it has a mild scent but a very nice one!!! I will use it tomorrow.
I had the opportunity to smell some other soaps like Barrister & Mann, I really liked Cheshire and Waves.
Also smelled some Saponificio Varesino...oh man.... I fell in love with Argania, now I have to spend 40€ for a soap 😂

D.R. Harris Windsor is a great soap. My favorite scent in the the D.R. lineup.

GFT creams offer excellent protection/performance as well. Eucris scent will always have a place in my den.

It is indeed, I also think that soaps with tallow work better for me.
I will keep in mind the GFT thank you!

Nivea gel with a brush? Hmm never thought about that, I will definitely try it! Thank you!
I have done this with a shave gel and it worked pretty good. What I've done, is place the gel into my shavebowl and lather/add water according. Just be aware that it's easy to add too much water.

In the end, if the Nivea shave gel is working for you, etc. Stick with it if you're goal is to save money 💸. Else, you may fall down the rabbit hole with us...

Also, I use Proraso PreShave white. It works very well. since it has a very light sent, if at all, I can use it with many other soaps without sent conflict. YMMV...

Since I have talked with many people in here and tested some things that changed my mind about nivea Gel or cream.
1. PAA Cube is an amazing pre shave soap, superior to Proraso red I was using, it's night and day difference.
2. After testing few soaps/creams I now use D.R Harris soap and I couldn't be happier, the protection and post shave is TOP and the slickness is to another lever.
