Lanolin heavy shaving creams?

Ok an update!

retried the myrsol after learning my lesson with the stirling on how to properly lather up harder soaps and literally had the thickest meringue like whipped cream lather it was incredible.. The Myrsol coco menta is quite enjoyable and offered a lovely shave, but as it relies on lanolin and glycerin without the additional tallows or butters it surely could not really compete with Red Cella and Stirling Haverford.. Great great stuff it is though i REALLY enjoyed this shave .. the smell is so lovely too ..

the other ones coming up that are worthy of testing against these heavy hitters are : shannons soap coconut lime and then the 1kg brick of Myrsol... lets see how they do.. but i suspect the 1kg myrsol will be similar to the coco menta..

I’ll throw in another option for you… I started DE shaving with Arko and a Henson, and have gone back to using a shave stick soap… but make my own.

Mix the soft Myrsol cream (with it’s lanolin and glycerin simple goodness) with a good hard soap and you get a perfect not too firm mix to put in the twist up containrs for an easy to use and really good shave.

A cheap but fab smelling stick is Pre de Provence #63 with Myrsol…. but the absolute business is a 50/50 mix of Saponificio Varesino Argania with the Myrsol- or SV Morado, both these 2 SV soaps seem to me to peform even better than the ‘other’ 4.3 Beta SV soaps.

awesome tip and thanks for this but im not really a fan of sticks but ill keep this in mind should it change!

What began as a "lanolin" thread has changed into what is the most protective cream out there that makes your face feeling the absolute softest while giving ultra slickness..

In the battle we have so far: 1) Cella Red tub 2) Cella red brick 3) Razorock p160 4) Stirling Soaps (haverford, almond creme, sheep) 5) Shannon Soaps coconut lime (coming soon) 6) Myrsol 1kg tub and coco ment puck 7) Real Musgo (black and the oak versions) 8) Vitos extra super coco 1kg brick (coming soon) . I love Lavanda but its nowhere near these heavy hitters in the after face feel. The main judgement i use here is how soft and moisturized my face feels all day , the moisturizing and nourishing aspect.

So far Cella Red is in first place. The brick and the tub are for sure slightly different variations as other members have noted. I cant say i like one over the other but the brick has a milder scent overrall for sure. in 2nd place currently we have stirling (haverford is the only one i tried). 3rd place the p160 has a slight edge over the myrsol in my opinion with its tallow and shea.. 4th place is the myrsol stuff.. which is a good place to be considering its using just glycerine and lanolin to compete with these richer ones above..

I do also like Proraso red, and the Lea lanolin tin cream - but again i just dont think they are "heavy hitters" like the above.. ill revisit them to be sure... and compile a list with them included int he ranks as well

Ill update the post soon when i try the rest.. but so far Cella red is blowing everything out of the water .. no wonder its been around so long.. and its not even a matter of its ingredients ..Having some experience formulating products and making them I can say that they just have their technique down better perhaps..

More to come..
