Ok an update!
retried the myrsol after learning my lesson with the stirling on how to properly lather up harder soaps and literally had the thickest meringue like whipped cream lather it was incredible.. The Myrsol coco menta is quite enjoyable and offered a lovely shave, but as it relies on lanolin and glycerin without the additional tallows or butters it surely could not really compete with Red Cella and Stirling Haverford.. Great great stuff it is though i REALLY enjoyed this shave .. the smell is so lovely too ..
the other ones coming up that are worthy of testing against these heavy hitters are : shannons soap coconut lime and then the 1kg brick of Myrsol... lets see how they do.. but i suspect the 1kg myrsol will be similar to the coco menta..
I’ll throw in another option for you… I started DE shaving with Arko and a Henson, and have gone back to using a shave stick soap… but make my own.
Mix the soft Myrsol cream (with it’s lanolin and glycerin simple goodness) with a good hard soap and you get a perfect not too firm mix to put in the twist up containrs for an easy to use and really good shave.
A cheap but fab smelling stick is Pre de Provence #63 with Myrsol…. but the absolute business is a 50/50 mix of Saponificio Varesino Argania with the Myrsol- or SV Morado, both these 2 SV soaps seem to me to peform even better than the ‘other’ 4.3 Beta SV soaps.
