Knockoff henson

I would be astonished if the Henson clone was machined within the nominal standard of the actual Henson razor. Henson uses machines that are capable of 5 ten thousands of an inch (and better). Their CNC machines cost multimillions today (not when they bought them years ago, for their aerospace projects). I cannot believe that a Chinese hack shop has machines capable of the Henson machines. IMHO, there is no razor manufacturer other than Henson, that can duplicate Henson's insane machining standards. I spent nearly 50 years in the aerospace business, and I know from first hand experience what tight tolerances are all about. IMHO, those manufacturing and finish tolerances make a difference in the razors performance and longevity.

These are some pictures of a razor purchased on Aliexpress.
I can’t tell if they put the soap notch in the top cap threads or not, but it looks like from the picture that they didn’t. The original Henson has the soap notch.

You may not have missed seeing the copy of the Merkur Progress 500 razor ... go and see who the seller is.

Another counterfeit I had already read about, maybe in this forum, now I saw it again in an Aliexpress store I am talking about the Muhle Rocca. Simple copying is not enough, exactly with the mark on the razor. :( 🤦‍♂️

Lately, there’ve been a bunch of fake versions of these styles popping up. Wet shaving fans in China have noticed, and a lot of people have been ripped off. The worst part is these fakes aren’t even cheap!
This situation is really bad

These fake models are all the top picks that beginner wet shaving fans in China recommend, and it seems like the people making these fakes really know wet shaving in China

Joined today just to tell us these fakes are real?
Hmm.. I'll buy 100!

Brb, need to stop my nephew buying fake lead beyblades from scamazon again...

I think mods should do a separate section for these things. I can hardly see a topic that isn't related to Chinese razors anymore and the worst part about it is that they also appear on Facebook and Youtube as well. I'm not against them or have anything against those who enjoy buying them, but seeing buzzwords like Aliexpress, Yaqi, Yintal, Dscosmetics, Shield etc. everywhere I look on the internet is a bit too much for me.

The point is that although they are fake razors, them are made so well in what we read from the opinions of those who buy them. I don't think only shaving novices are buying them, there will also be some razor connoisseurs who own the original. In many cases I read a little bit everywhere that they write that they are original. Them are not original razors, okay maybe they should write that they work like the originals and that makes me think that many people would be satisfied.Alright, then fakes that work like the originals because now even authorized dealers are rightly starting to worry.

Perhaps some people have already taken steps to inform Aliexpress of this situation, we will see soon.

Among the oddities today on Aliexpress another imitation came out, costing more than the original. :thumbdown

In fact, there are already similar counterfeit products in China, and some people have carefully compared them with the real ones, and they are different. The production precision and craftsmanship are not as good as the real ones.

The reason for this problem may be that CNC equipment is too common in China, and the technology required for razors is actually very low.

Other people wrote that they were original, or rather they thought they were.
I was also following the discussion of these razor imitation topics in other forums and in wet shaving group on WA and so I asked the following question: do we know anything about where the original razors that are imitated are produced?

You're referring to razors in general, but we're talking about high-end razors and I'm not just referring to the Henson.
It shouldn't be this easy to imitate fine, high-end razors.

Until a few years ago would you have thought that they would have already imitated it? If we ignore the quality and craftsmanship you were writing about, aesthetically it seems like a faithful copy. So much so that many have fallen for it, because perhaps they don't own the original and only those who have observed them with the original and very carefully can say that they are fake.

I can understand an imitation razor that is aesthetically 100% the same as another, but then another from another brand and another... I don't think it should be that easy, I can't explain it.

At least I don't know who actually produces these knockoffs. I've seen comparison videos and there are indeed some subtle differences.

Yes, it is still difficult to imitate those high-end razors. From my observation, the main defects are in surface treatment and some details, but the precision is not much different.

But can you say this only from hearsay or having read it? You didn't compare an original razor with an imitation one, correct?

My question wasn't whether we know who makes the imitations.
My question is whether we know where, in which country or nation the original razors are produced. I repeat, originals razors not imitation razors.

Oh I’m sorry. But can you explain the reason you ask this question? We do know who made it (for example wr, sailor etc)
