JL 52’s 2025 Shave Log - (Recovering From Severe Case of RAD)

Entry #41 - 4/6/2025

Battle of the Aggressive Grays!

Last night I put the Henson Al13 Aggressive up against the OliWorks M3terorite Aluminum Aggressive! There is an obvious and significant head design difference between the two razors; the Henson has the built-in fixed angle that it's famous for and also clamps the blade much further out than most razors, whereas the M3terorite has a rounded head design and bends the blade rather than clamping it. Fit and finish was second to none for both razors. Ending shave closeness was about the same for the two razors but the rounded head design of the M3terorite had less friction during the shave and made for one of the smoothest experiences I'd ever had, I was completely blown away by it. Also worth mentioning, the M3terorite Aluminum comes with all three of its base plate options included for $69, making it an exceptional value in the higher-end aluminum tier.

Being very much in the honeymoon phase with the OliWorks M3terorite Aluminum, I opted for the mild plate for my quick 24 hour shave this evening.

The mild plate shared the incredible smoothness of the medium and aggressive plates, but felt safer and allowed me to move even quicker during my shave. The single tradeoff was that the mild plate just didn’t deliver quite as close a shave, although it still decent and satisfactory for a quick 24 hour shave.

I wouldn’t consider it an autopilot razor as you still need to find and maintain the optimal angle throughout your shave (compared to the Bison, Apex, or Henson for example), but man, the glide this razor has is tough to beat!
