Issue with Wolfman-Is This Normal?

I was on the fence about getting a Wolfman one day as a special treat. This thread turned the tide for me in that I won’t. That finish is worse than RazoRock and the customer service was a bit disappointing. This has been quite informative for me, so thanks for that. I’ll stick with RazoRock.

That is not acceptable for what the prices are. I have 2 basic polish razors and I had one of the original ones before there were different polish levels. The basic polish is not as good as the mirror finish, but it’s close enough that I wouldn’t pay extra for the mirror polish.

No way guys it’s no way…

In my first email, I mentioned asking them to replace the top cap, even though Mr. Shavington said the whole razor head didn’t meet Wolfman’s standards. However, Tara ignored that request and only asked me to return the item, kindly suggesting I declare $50 to avoid additional customs duties. This is understandable, as it’s indeed the standard after-sales process. But I must admit, it’s my fault for living too far away and not wanting to go through the hassle.

In fact, I had already decided I wouldn’t return or exchange it; I just wanted to see how they would respond. Even if Tara disagreed with sending me a new top cap, if she had just said, “Sorry, this was our oversight. Please return it, and we’ll exchange it for you,” I would have been completely fine with it. However, Tara’s attitude made it seem like she thought I was asking for too much, as if I were trying to do something dishonest.

So, I didn’t continue to demand anything from them, as I didn’t want it to look like I was deliberately creating these marks to scam them.

For anyone buying Wolfman with basic polishing in the future, be sure to take my photos and remind them. I hope this helps!

Not your fault and don't under declare on customs. What they area asking you to do is wrong and should not be asked or encouraged from a private sale, let alone a business.

They should be paying for all all return shipping and all costs to get a new one in your hands.

If they keep giving your these BS responses, I would be looking at buyer protection from your method of payment.

Thank you for your suggestion. I’m not sure what those scratches are—maybe CNC machining marks? If it weren’t for a friend asking to see more photos, I wouldn’t have even noticed them.

Since I’m in China, we don’t usually use PayPal or similar payment methods, so I lack knowledge in this area. I’ve decided to just let this matter go.

I got into wet shaving in June last year and quickly became obsessed with it. Over time, I heard about Wolfman from friends and learned about its reputation. I registered on the waitlist on September 30th, and after more than six months of waiting, this razor finally crossed the ocean and arrived in my hands. In a way, this marks the fulfillment of my admiration for Wolfman last year—this is the razor that has captured the attention of wet shaving enthusiasts worldwide🔥🔥

I will keep it because, to me, it is truly “one of a kind.”

@Doubino1 I am horrified by this and I’m sorry you are having this experience. They should just send you a new razor head. There is no reason to return the defective one you received, but if they really want it back so they can throw it in the trash themselves then they should arrange and pay for the return shipping.

At this point I can only support what you said in your message back to Tara, and I think we can all take it that Wolfman is now saying this kind of work is what we should expect from them. I’m glad you showed everything here and I simply cannot explain it.

Whatever you do, don’t send them more money for a mirror polish razor when they have let you down like this. It is better to buy one from another member here, via the Buy-Sell-Trade sub-forum. At least then you know it is the same as their normal quality, and these razors come up for sale quite frequently in perfect condition because buyers find they would prefer a different blade gap and they sell the one they have so they can order a different one.

I am speechless, honestly. This is wrong.

At least the razor should function correctly and the issues are cosmetic. I hope you can still enjoy using it.

I highly recommend Lambda razors in Greece. Even better than Wolfman and just as beautifully made. And Theo would never, ever treat a customer like this.

I have a jewelry buffing machine... made in your fine country.... I've polished a few razor caps.... It's easy to use... and it would cost you about what the shipping costs would be for a return to Wolfman, most likely... I have a little container with 6 polishing compounds... one of them works well on stainless steel... I polished my Blutt BR-1 matte razor head to a fine polish in just a few minutes... I'm guessing that would take out those pock marks easily.... I know, I'd try it if I were you... but YMMV and you do have a unique WR2... I am sorry Tara isn't taking better care of you... She's always been wonderful to me, but then, I haven't had any issues...

I looked closely at the marks, and this is just my opinion and fact at all, but the pitting looks way more like corrosion than machine marks. It’s like the metal corroded and then someone used coarse grit in an attempt to remove it.

FYI, this is what a basic polish Wolfman razor looks like. At least every time I bought one. I did once buy a mirror polish razor from them and it is very impressive, but you can only really see the difference under magnification and for me it is not worth paying for more than basic polish because the basic polish is so good.

But not yours. Yours is terrible. I could do better and I’ve never polished anything before.

What's the saying? "It takes years to build a reputation and minutes to ruin it."

You are very patient @Doubhino. I feel angry on your behalf! I have razors that had a basic polish and then 5 years of use on them that are still spotless by comparison. This looks like it has been getting scratched and battered about in the bottom of a reject parts bin out the back of their workshop for 10 years then they just fished it out and shipped it to you.

Wolfman owe you a new razor head. It's that simple - and you can tell them some random dude on the internet said so!

Thank you, Phoenix. I also feel disappointed about this situation. Perhaps Tara truly believes their products shouldn’t be like this, but I can say with a clear conscience that every word I’ve said is honest. As you said, you’ve never encountered any issues, so I guess I might have “won the lottery.”

Today, when I received my package, I was excited and recorded an unboxing video. Even though the video didn’t immediately reveal any issues, I believe that from the moment I carefully unwrapped the black paper around the razor head and handle, I showed my deep respect for this razor.

Before receiving it, I had watched many unboxing videos online, studying how others unwrapped their razors. I even rehearsed multiple times in my mind how to remove the black packaging without any damage, because I wanted to keep every piece of paper and foam intact in my Wolfman white box—this was my first Wolfman razor.

A few days ago, I also shared in LRod’s thread my excitement about finding a brand-new WRA1 stand for around $50 in our country’s second-hand market. I initially didn’t buy it from the official website because I felt that 125 CAD was a bit expensive. I just want to say that I had thoroughly prepared for this razor.

I’m saying all of this to prove that I am telling the truth, with no exaggeration or fabrication. I am providing this information in hopes that when others purchase their dream razors in the future, they will make sure to request a thorough inspection before shipping.

I have a clear conscience.

Thank you sir.

So I say my WR2 is truly one of a kind—it has been specially enchanted to be immune to most scratches!

Razors that cost this much sell to a very limited clientele. The clientele are people who do research, per form due diligence, contact owners etc. and, are members of razor forums such as B&B.

I'm stunned at their response.
Please keep us informed on how this gets resolved.

I don’t think this post will change the passion that the wet shaving community has for Wolfman. It is loved because it truly is a great brand, and even now, I still think it’s great—though I wasn’t lucky enough to receive a great Wolfman myself.

I just hope that those who read this post will take it as a reminder: don’t just wait for manufacturers to send you a flawless product—be proactive and remind them to check it before shipping.
