How Many Passes

I use 4 passes (WTG, ATG, ATG, XTG). Why stop when you are having so much fun? I get BBS every time and hardly ever experience irritation.

That's what I use to do, but now I go WTG, WTG, XTG, ATG. the extra WTG makes XTG and ATG easier.

+1, exactly what i've found. I don't shave everyday so the first WTG pass isn't as effective as it could be for the follow up passes.

I have to go with the "or else" part...

3 passes + touch up: WTG, XTG (that's from ear to nose), ATG. Then a touch up pass, which is basically blade buffing (ATG and XTG) on places where needed.

XTG, quick rinse of face, lather up again followed by ATG.
This gives me BBS shaves all the time.

I voted three, although it is 2 passes + touch ups. I used to do 3+, but have dropped back. I have come to the conclusion that BBS is most likely not happening for me, and have decided to save my skin
