How Many Brushes Does One Need? Really?

Can I ask what is the third brush from the left on the third shelf down? Love the look of it. Thanks.

You don't need very many.... just a few...

I can tell you where that collection is NOT located - California. That would not do well in earthquake country :biggrin1:
Although a quick mod of a bungee or low gauge wire across each shelf should keep everything in place.
Incredible collection of higher end brushes.

Need, probably 2. I think brushes are happier when they don't get used every day so they can fully dry between shaves. But it is fun to have more. I think I have 5, have my eye on 2-3 more right now

I think the correct term is SBAD(Shave Brush Acquistion Disorder).

But ya only need one brush. I have gone 3 years on just a Colk Conk Badger Brush, though I did buy a VDH Boar for the wife's legs and have tried it a time or two. I have thought about going to a Badger but I face lather shave sticks and everything points to boar being better. Maybe one day...

I do have several razors tho'....:biggrin1:

I didn't see SBAD when I was looking through the abbreviation index this morning. Certainly, SBAD is a more accurate description. I mean we're not collecting various models of the Tooth Brush.

i would say 3 just for good drying time and rotation, i have 7 and one stays in my Dopp bag NEED is the real issue here, tempered, spoiled ,obsessive, addicted these are other issues

all it takes is one and there will be cracks in 50% of the handles, even a wrong touch or grab

One at the minimum but a lot of people aren't just going on need and need can vary from person to person. I have two. One I use as my main brush and a travel brush. It's really up to you to determine how many you need/want.

I own 2 brushes. Both of them are cheap boar brushes, I only have 2 because the first one broke and I needed to replace it. Brushes are the only aspect of wetshaving that I don't have any real interest in except that I need a brush.

I'd say you only need three with one of them being a travel brush.
I currently have three (which is an indulgence) that I use and I'm yet to get a travel brush.

When the brushes start to bother you and start to occupy your space, that's the time to be picky. Don't worry, it's ok.

Still a good brush is worth investing in. And I believe you need at least 2 brushes, to rotate between them.

I picked up the EJ best badger today. After cleaning it, I made a cream lather and the results were superb. I get good results from the boar brush I have, an old Ever Ready C40 given to me by my grandparents, it's in good working condition and is broken in nice.

Living near the foggy beach in San Francisco, I have two, because it takes more than 1 day for the little darlings to dry out. Actually I have right around 10, but you get the idea...
