How do you rationalize shipping costs?

Usually I don't go for it when shipping exceeds €15-20 and try to stick under €10, which means buying (in my case) from Dutch or at least European vendors. The highest I ever did pay was €35 but that was for 2 lifetimes worth of blades at a really good price; in the end it was easily worth it.

Shipping needs to be considered as part of the purchase price. You didn't pay $68 for product and $41 to ship it, you payed $109 for a brush and 2 bottles of aftershave. If it's worth it to you it's justified.

Simple as that!

There is not a product overseas that I can not be without.

If I can not justify the total cost, I will not order.

most of my shopping is done from US stores, WCS or Shavenation, up to 2lbs it's generally $16 - 18 shipping to Australia, 6-10 days to arrive, the products are often much cheaper than here in Oz, so the shipping is of little consequence. Once you start adding heavier items like honing stones, it can shoot up to $40 - 50 shipping and you really have to see how the overall cost compares to local prices. Most individual razors off Ebay, postage to Oz is around $6 - 9 which is reasonable.

WCS is pretty competitively priced. However, I get the impression that Shavenation tends to charge a bit more for items. I've wanted to order from Shavenation to throw some business Geo's way but found it to be expensive most of the time. For e.g. The Feather AC SS (non folding) sells for $142.99 on shavenation while its $120 on WCS. I figured that I might as well save the money for shipping.

What I do is opt for the longest shipping option available. If it isn't free, it's really cheap. No need to get it the next day.

Agree, I've purchased a few things off Geo if the price is comparable, but yes I bought my AC SS from WCS for the same reason, I like to throw business his way because I learnt a heck of a lot about wet shaving and got to see many, many razors in action before buying, all due to his youtube channel. But if the difference in price is quite a lot, then I've got to be sensible, especially when shipping overseas
