Gillette Slim Adjustable and Super Speed Problems

Does the TTO knob have up and down play in it? It could be that the crimp down toward the bottom of the handle is no longer holding the knob firmly in place. If that's coming partially out of the groove it could cause stiffness. Pushing up on the knob as you turn should work if that's the case. There is a fix involving a dulled down pipe cutter that onotoman worked out.

D'oh!

I do believe you've detected the problem, my friend. I just tried doing exactly what you told me to do, and it did open easier. I also heard a clicking noise as it opened...telltale sign of some sort of grinding. Your advice is appreciated!

Which thread highlights this fix?

I would be careful with petroleum-based lubricants. You don't want these to ever get into a cut. Mineral Oil is safer. Although the petroleum based lubes are probably more effective.
to my limited knowledge mineral oil=petroleum jelly

its just something the industry does to cover up the fact that they use petroleum for everything. For example petroleum jelly is actually used in quite a few body washes(example old spice moisturizing body washes) sometimes the manufacturer will list "mineral oil" as a main ingredient instead of petroleum jelly but they are one in the same. Petroleum jelly has its medical uses however I would agree it probably shouldnt be used all the time.

and yeah i do realize how old this thread is XD
