Game Changer .68 Issues

Perplexed and dissapointed - just received the Game Changer .68 a few weeks ago and am having a heck of a time not getting cuts and nicks on my neck. Have tried multiple blades - GSB, Personna Red, Bic Yellow. I will continue to try different blades to see if I can find "the one". It just doesn't make sense after all the posts about the Game Changer I have read here. I even bought a .76 plate to go with it in case the .68 was too mild - needless to say that won't be tried. I will say as I age my face is less tolerant of my vintage Gillettes save for the techs, even the pre-war tech seems a little aggressive or overly efficient. I can put any blade in my Rockwell6s with plate #2 and get a smooth, close shave. Thought it was my desert island razor but you know how we are here - maybe I could find the same shave with a less bulky head. I bought a Henson AL13 prior to the Rockwell and I can (and do) use Feather and Kai blades, get a great shave with no irritaion but the specific shaving angle required is very slowly growing on me. Did not care for that at first, but it's growing on me. I had abandoned my early 60's tech but have recently tried with a feather and it is a pretty good shave for me with no irritation. This getting old is pissing me off as I have some nice vintage razors that I enjoy (enjoyed). Would really like to figure out this game changer though, I could sit tight on what I have if I can find the right blade. Manufacturing defect? Probably not. I will attch a pic some of my razors, not to show off but to show what I have used in the past and have not bothered my face like they seem to now. I know many of you have the really nice (expensive) razors. Oh and soaps....unscented PAA (CK6), Noble Otter, B&M and right now I'm using Truefitt and Hill Ultimate comfort cream - so no soap irritation. WTG, XTG, ATG is my normal.
Any thoughts?

huh well all I can say is when I got my gamechanger it was a relief because it gave me a perfect two pass shave with no irritation. That was with a rex supply co blade. However right before that I had tore up my neck really bad trying to use a super adjustable from 1974 revamped. setting 1 didnt cut anything and setting 2 cut my beard down but tore up my neck. My first razor was a henson al13 mild. I consider the .68p GC to be slightly more efficient and aggressive than a mild razor but not by much. Just enough of a bump. I would say try riding the cap on it but thats what people told me with the super adjustable and it just did not work for me. So idk maybe its just not the one for you. Or maybe it is defective. Maybe its the blade. I have no idea but I can't assume anything. I easily got a great shave from the gamechanger .68p. And I tend to lean towards milder razors.

I never got along with my 68. It is sitting in the box since I got it. I tried it with few different blades. If I do 3 pass shave like you, the shed is not close enough for my liking. I always ended up buffing too many ch and had bad irritation and bumps afterwards.

I have a mamba 53 from RR and it takes like three passes its too mild but the .68p is the sweet spot. But it depends on how many days growth you have what blade youre using. Its really only a 1-2 shaver. If you need to cut thicker growth then you probably need an adjustable. Or a really aggressive razor.

I had to do so many passes with the .68 that I needed to reload and build a second bowl of lather. Ended up with bumps on the front of my chin, and still wasn't close. The .76 was the ticket for me.

Cuts, though? I honestly think I could ride that razor from Philly to Dallas and not get cut.

Try the .76. I speculate you may be applying too much pressure to compensate for the mildness.

The GC has more blade reveal than any other DE I own--meaning that the cap covers up less of the blade. For me, this makes it have more "chatter" than other razors in its efficiency range. It's especially noticeable going against the grain. I don't get cuts, but it generates more skin rash unless I shave carefully.

That said, I have had to try harder and harder to get good shaves as I get older (I'm 57). What came easy now takes more prep and better technique than I used to have. Our skin gets looser, thinner, and rougher. Our beards get coarser and tougher.

Yeah I dont find that the blade chatters for me but I get it. More skin stretching might be needed as aging occurs. And yeah my dad was talking about his beard getting bushier. Hes in his 60s now. Im trying to get him to wet shave but I dont know if i can convince him. Hes always been a cartridge guy even as a teen in the 70s.
