What's new

First shave with vintage Old Spice

I hereby decree: Old Spice Shaving Soap is my favorite soap, ever ...and I have a lot of 'em.

I've used OS for four days in a row now (usually switch every day) and I appreciate it more and more and more.

...and now I'm freaking out - I only have X many in reserve!!!!!! Any hoarders out there? (hahahhhaahhaha - hoarders? here???) - you KNOW my anxiety!

Mama Bear has an "Old Spice" styled soap. Its all natural, the ingredients are superior to that of the original old spice, and the scent is close.....

beg to differ. As much as I have enjoyed a number of Mama's soaps, she does not use tallow in her formulation - OS is simply tallowicious!

In my 'sperience, good tallow soap is superior to good tallow-less soap. There are some wonderful no-fat soaps - Mama's among 'em, don't get me wrong. BUT - I stand by my declaration. (Want to feel my face???)

I just picked up an unused Mug with soap from an ebay auction, haven't got around to trying it yet. I was afraid I had overpaid for it, about $24 with shipping, but I am currently watching an auction with the top bid of $32 and has a couple of days to go. I don't feel so bad now.

$24 for NOS with mug is a fine price. You did well.

I'm developing a real love/hate relationship with vintage OS soap.

I shaved with it today, and the shave was superb. The lather, while not sumptuous or decadent, was creamy and perfectly serviceable.

I get a more moisturized post-shave sensation with Cella, there are better scents out there by the bushel, and the price point is daunting.

Somehow, though, it seems to perform better for me than it should. I enjoy using it, but every time I do I feel like I'm lathering up a snail darter or spotted owl.

I've had very good results with PC OS type soap and the scent on the Indian OS cream is great, with a decent shave behind it. I enjoy them both, but they aren't the original.
