That brush sounds like a real pig... to save your bacon, do you soak it in hot water before using it? Perhaps you can also try what causes split ends in humans... dry the suckler with a hairdryer!

I soak all my boars in room temperature distilled water. I don’t want to use a hair dryer on the knot. The pictures I’ve seen of this method has the splits looking frizzy which I don’t prefer. My opinion is this is just a one-off. I’ve used a dozen different boars and this one doesn’t act or resemble any of them.

Post-shave: face wash with shave binky and a drop of hyaluronic acid and a drop of glycerin
Post-shave: Equate moisturizer

I don’t know if it was substituting my glycerin bath soap with regular bath soap, using a blade that wasn’t in the razor when I accidentally dropped it the other day, or shaving on just 23 hours growth, but it was even more enjoyable than the previous shave. Not BBS, but also not how’d I miss all that?!” Auspicious start to the month!

One thing I love about the Fixed Fours is reading about everyone's experiences and seeing their pictures.

I need to better hydrate the lather I'm making from this soap. Better than today's.

(Learning stuff is my main goal for a Fixed.)

I'm finding it difficult to believe how great (and continually improving) these shaves are. Magic!

Pre-shave: Hot water and Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser.
Razor: Rockwell 6S in red, base plate 6.
Blade: Gillette Nacet: blade 1, shave 2, side 3 & 4.
Brush: Semogue 820S.
Shaving Cream: Proraso Red.
Shave: 1st pass: WTG, 2nd pass: XTG, 3rd pass: ATG and cleanup.
Result: BBS, no irritation.
Post Shave: Cold water splash and MiNature Alum Block.
After Shave: Pinaud Clubman Special Reserve.

First time using Old Spice in seems like 20 years, maybe only 15, but it’s been a bit. It was my only aftershave for many years when using cartridges. It’s still nice and I think I will keep it in my rotation. Have a blessed day gentlemen.

FFFMM #3
First week with this blade. So far it’s good. If I can get a weeks worth of smooth & comfortable shaves from a blade, I’m happy. The other members of my Fab Four, I could use every day if I had to. Brush is amazingly soft. Razor is… well, it’s a R89. The soap is magnificent. All the ingredients for a delightful shave.

I did a light polish of my razor just to clean it up. Used Flitz, but, again, this was super light, really just maintenance. I like this razor. (It's the SuperSlant L1+.)

In the battle of the better-hydrating bath soap, Irish Spring felt like it did the job better, but I got a closer shave after using the Essentials unscented glycerin bar, but that could’ve been me just shaving more as I feel overshaved the next morning. A little chase down of stragglers on my jawline has me wanting to change up my “technique” a little for the next shave even though what works for a few dozen partially trimmed whiskers may not translate to a few thousand fresh whiskers. Can’t wait to find out!
