Does sunlight damage brushes?

You live in Scotland (I think they do not see too much sun :001_rolle) and your window is the kind that's only letting only a little light in. The only thing I would be worried is, if the wood you are going to use for the brushes and the stand will fade over time. But, there are vanishes that have a UV protection built in, like outdoor vanish.
I should have written varnish....not vanish...sorry for that.

Many of my brushes reside on a window sill in the cellar just outside the bathroom where I shave. Between the window and the heating/cooling vent just above the window it really is an ideal and convenient location to dry brushes. I don't like keeping them in the bathroom. The air doesn't move in there, and God knows what's floating around in the air in a bathroom. They get about an hour of fairly direct sunlight late each afternoon. Because of where the large hemlocks behind the house are situated the window gets more sun in the winter when the sun has moved to the south- perhaps 90 minutes a day. But it's also at its weakest at that time. I've done this for years with no apparent ill effect. Many of the brushes sit there for a month or longer without being moved.
