What's new

Does my perfect razor exist?

I'm going to vote with the adjustable.
1-9 each setting is like a different razor. You can fine tune it in between.
It is odd that in the 1980s, I had a Gillette adjustable, and I now have a Viking's Blade Emperor. In both cases, I ended up with a setting of 5.

I started with milder razors, like the Henson and the black-handle Super Speed, but I felt I needed something more. Then I discovered the Game Changer 76, which provided a smoother and cleaner shave. Over time, I introduced the Lupo 72 into my rotation. It felt a bit rough at first, but my skin adapted over the past three months, and it's now the best razor for me. It strikes a great balance between smoothness and the duration before stubble reappears.

Another thought...if you love the Game Changer 68 and want to up the efficiency just a bit, order the .76 plate. That's what I did and it feels the same as the .68 but clears stubble quicker. I love it so much that I bought my son a GC with .68 and .76 plates for his birthday a couple weeks ago. He loves it as much as I do.

I've tried the 68, 76, 84, jaws 84, and 105. I didn't notice that much difference for a 1 pass shave between the 68 and 76 so stuck with the 68 and 84. The 68-OC is on the search list for sure though

I did send you a PM... I'm not if it will benefit you, but who knows?

Go back and try the first or second razor you ever purchased. Chances are it magically became better in storage. Just the way things often go.

I actually did. It was the Leaf twig and thorn. After trying again they went on ebay lol. Fantastic company and product seemed quality but after then moving to more tradition DE razors it just didn't hold a candle for me personally but I'd still recommend them to many

There is someone selling the whole family of came changer razors on BST which includes a .68-OC. I thought Ill let you know.

I had the pleasure of trying the Yaqi Avanti for the first time this morning and I have to say it is one amazing razor. The Avanti is on sale for the next day and 1/2, bringing the total price to $130 minus whatever coupon you get to use.

yeah I already reached out to them and am in line in case they don't sell the entire package at once.

I already tried the Avanti but the head is way too big. I used it once and sold it. For reference even the Rex Sentry, Yates America, and RR Mamba was bigger than I wanted vs the GC or Lupo just as a size reference what I'm trying to achieve.

Italian barber still has the GC .68 oc razor for sale, but not as the base alone. If you want an ultra slim adjustable profile head, the only adjustable that come to mind is the Tatara Muramasa. I’m not sure where you heard the Muramasa is rough. To the best of my knowledge, Tatara Muramasa should be a great shaver at shallow angles. I have not tried the muramasa as I have many other great razors and can’t justify the retail cost. Maybe if I see the muramasa for under $250 I would consider it. There is a seller on eBay trying to sell a used muramasa for $350 and sent me a private offer for $330.

Aliexpress has a wolfman clone razor made by Dscosmetic, the Dscosmetic AX. The Dscosmetic AX is only available in zamak right now, but after a small coupon during the current sale, the zamak version is selling for around $18. The $18 includes three heads and a stainless handle. I normally avoid zamak but this one was one of my few exceptions. I only just received this razor and have not used it yet, but by feeling the blade against my fingers, the razor appears to shave great and people say it shaves similar to a wolfman. If you buy and like this zamak version of the wolfman, the dscosmetic titanium version has been in stock and only just went out of stock or you may decide to get the real wolfman.

Perfect?

I've posted this elsewhere: Gillette NLC and NSC are my favorite razors used to date. I enjoy alternating between them. I've two Techs that I was quite happy with prior and a B&B member (sorry I don't recall otherwise I'd provide the ascription) pitched the NLC and NSC and I haven't looked back since.

I prefer a mild razor and all 4 fit the bill for me. I have no clue what the gap and exposure specs are for these.

I've no doubt that in your hunt you'll either find "perfect" or from all the experimenting cobble together a Franken...that will be perfect.

Best on your journey.

Finding True Perfection, and being satisfied is IMHO not possible. That is why Inventors who are obsessed never stop tweeting product to make them better. Have a friend that is like that, he is OCD on Steroids, and is constantly striving for perfection plus.

Then you have the end use who find something he or she loves, or think is the greatest, and never update his favorite with New, Sexy, or Better. That is the person who is lucky they find happiness.

😅 I get that about Perfection all too well. Lexus used to run an Advert a long time back, and their slogan was the “Relentless Pursuit of Perfection”… I LOVED that so much when I first saw it.
