Ω 10048 28mm boar brush
Pre-shave: Al’s layering method more or less
Lather: Wee Babby siavon à raser, bowl-loaded; face-lathered

Post-shave: warm shower :001_wub: and a drop of hyaluronic acid and a drop of glycerin
Post-shave: Equate moisturizer

Brush was only soaked for a few minutes while I brushed my teeth. Still very soft. Didn’t press enough soap into my loading bowl and didn’t load enough on my brush. The result was a lack of closeness, but the shave was still very comfortable. Even the aftershave agreed. More soap next time, though.

Zenith A26 unbleached boar
La Toja stick soap
YUMA and Gillette super platinum.
Face lathered La Toja ….wet face and rubbed a good layer of soap on then went to work with the Zenith. Great, rich lather.
Enjoyed the YUMA shave experience so much yesterday that I’ve stuck with it today, just to check that it really is a Jedi level razor….yep….so smooth, nimble, efficient. One of the best.

DecemBOAR shave #15 (final one) rated 9.5/10 using:
  • Razor: Razorock Lupo 72 w/Barber Pole handle
  • Blade: Derby Premium with Chromium-Ceramic-Platinum-Tungsten and polymer coated edges (1)
  • Brush: Semogue 820 Boar
  • Pre-shave: Noxzema
  • Soap: Dutch Van der Lovett Grey (thank you @Guido75)
  • Post shave: Thayer’s Coconut Witch Hazel followed by Old Spice splash and Stirling Unscented Glacial balm
PXL_20241230_155158161.jpg
I loaded a fresh Derby Premium into my Lupo 72 in my quest to get to know this new razor. The blade was a little harsher than I am used to. I did have a few weepers on my mustache area. I think I must do a better job ensuring that I use a light touch with the Lupo 72. I gave the shave an 8/10 on the irritation axis because of the nibbles. Closeness remains the Lupo 72's strong suit for me, especially with a fresh blade. I may have added a little too much water to my lather, which may have ever so slightly interfered with the soap's slickness.

Today was my first use of the Stirling Glacial unscented balm. I really love these balms. I was a little afraid of the “Glacial” aspect because of how spicy Stirling’s Glacial Lemon Chill soap was two days ago. I think the balm is slightly less “chilly” than the soap, which I liked.

My shave scoring log is found HERE.

Happy shaves everyone :badger:

MdC Monday

Hello friends

Cloudy day. I'm going to end the year with one of my favorite soaps, MdC Fougère, which pairs beautifully with Brut Original. Rocca R94 and GSB (2) make a perfect pair. And I'm back to my first Semogue, the 1305, my old and good friend.

With us, in this last shave of 2024, Miles Davis, John Coltrane and Bill Evans.

Rating: 10

I wish you all a blessed 2025 and great shaves!
