GRUME-ing on the 4th day of DecemBOAR

An Italian theme today led to a DFS+ finish.
The Omega Italian was my first (and largest) boar brush and it is always a pleasure to use. I have decided Kai blades are like the Energizer Bunny- they just keep going and going smooth and efficiently. The pre-shave cream didn't add a lot of slickness but again I shamelessly added it to enhance the color scheme.

On this 4th Day of Decemboar, I kept up my "streak" and give a maiden-flight to the new Omega 80056 that I plan on giving to my 19 year old to use while at university as part of his first personal DE kit this Christmas.

I had debated whether to break-in this brush, or to make a gift of it "new," but decided that "the love" was best expressed by putting in the work. This one is shaping up nicely.

Decemboar 4th, Omega 10005

Just a solid, reliable, relatable and easily replaceable brush. Perhaps the Bic pen of boar brushes, they’re everywhere and they work. The only quality brush I have found at my local shops. Great brush!

First use today of the 10005. I already gave it a false lather just to get the worst of the funk out, but today was the first actual shave. I have to say, this is the floppiest boar I have ever used. I am not usually one to complain about a lack of backbone, but this brush might actually be too floppy for my tastes - so soft it was kinda difficult to whip up lather with!

I will give it a few more tries but I don't think it is going to replace the 10065 as my favourite smaller Omega.

And I was thinking you would like the 10005 since like the floppy ones. Yes it is floppier than 10065.
My advice would be to only soak 20% of the knot for only 1 minute.

I may adjust to it, but if not then it doesn't matter. I wanted to try it because whilst I like the performance of the 10065 I am not mad about the handle shape - the 10005 is definitely more comfortable for me in that regard, so there are positives too.

Of course, I gave it an absurdly long soak, so next time I will shorten it as you suggest!

That’s a bummer! I’ve found mine to be fairly solid, purchased about 3 years ago, still good. Not much one can do if it feels too floppy though. Perhaps it will come around, hopefully.
