Darn you Simpson

I didnt think this post would cause this much discussion. For me I like the variety! Nothing wrong with making things that appeal to the traditionalist and the one who like a more modern look

Its like the saying about academic arguments. Why are academic arguments so vicious? Because there's so little at stake.

I've actually been doing a ton of research into finding a Moonjava handled brush. It's weird though: Simpson now offers something similar and I'm not interested at all. Something about that brush handle is just off putting.

The red marbled one is pretty sweet though.

If there's ever been a time to buy from England. Now's the time. The pound to dollar exchange rate is the lowest it's been since the 2010 elections. It's projected to go down a bit further to 1 pound = 1.46 dollars. That's about as good as it'll get. If you've ever wanted a Manchurian badger, this would be the moment to buy.

Or Isle of Man :biggrin1:

Think there's any chance in Munich?

If these handles were offered with Best or 2-band (non Unicorn grade) I might go for one.

I've got plenty of faux ivory brushes.

Under that lighting, I'm not seeing any defined red/blue.... but it's sweet and it makes me want a rootbeer float!

Lousy #@%&*$# Cell phone, here's a few more.

NEVER plenty of ivory brushes....:drool::biggrin1:

I'm with Greg on this one. I like seeing brushes that break the mold. The status quo of "being traditional" has gotten a bit stale (for me, at least).

I don't necessarily like the new Simpson handle materials, but it's a step in the right direction. If I'm paying x amount of dollars for a premium product, I'd like it to stand out from the crowd or be custom, ala Rudy Vey or Shavemac.

That said, the occasional ivory brush is nice and those Milkchurns up above are quite patriotic and drool-worthy

Yes, of course. You have a point there. I agree that a premium product should "stand out of the crowd". Notwithstanding, even then, my point was (in a jocular manner!) that I do prefer classic handles (being the ivory ones the epitome), for now at least.

In the end, it's all about personal preference and what people are willing to pay for a product. YMMV!

I don't particularly like these new Simpson handles either, though they stand out, actually! Perhaps the jade one...:wink2:

I must say I like the Jade and I have a brush with the same material. I also like the cobalt. I would be willing to buy one just not at that cost. Maybe something in Best.

Haha, yes I agree, the jade is very nice. I was at Rudy's a few weeks ago to pick up a brush (review coming!) and he had a beautiful, large piece of imitation jade to turn. Whoever gets handles out of that beast is going to be one satisfied customer. Gorgeous stuff.
